Woody Harrelson Just Joined an Already Insane Cast

by Alicia Lutes

OK, not to get all melodramatic here, but holy shit: True Detective star Woody Harrelson's latest cinematic casting choice has officially put him into one of the most jampacked-sounding film in recent memory. Hyperbole is warranted here, folks because by the sounds of it, Triple Nine might become everyone's most anticipated new film because — hoo lawd — the cast line-up for this one looks absolutely bonkers in the best way.

Joining director John Hillcoat's heist thriller, Harrelson is set to play Sergeant Detective Jeffrey Allen, a man that happens to be the uncle of cop played by Casey Affleck. The rest of the cast includes Chiwetel Ejiofor, Kate Winslet, Fruitvale Station/Fantastic Four's Michael B. Jordan, Breaking Bad's Aaron Paul, Warm Bodies' Teresa Palmer, and Wonder Woman to-be, Gal Gadot. Hello, Hollywood? Your hottest and most impressive stars are all right here in this movie.

Hillcoat is set to direct the thriller he also scripted when it begins production this summer. As for synopsis, the story is based around a crew of dirty cops who are blackmailed by the Russian mob. Forced to execute a virtually impossible heist, the crew decides that the only way to make it work is to fake an "office down" scenario (police coded as a "999"). Unfortunately, hijinks of the deadly order ensue when the rookie they set up to die (unbeknownst to him) bungles the attack. This sets off a series of action-packed, double-cross-filled series of events, rife with greed, revenge, and no doubt a killer finale.
