The 'Divergent' Cast Sizzles at LA Premiere

by Mary Avant

It’s happening again, ladies and gents: Just when you thought you were getting a little break from all the years of teen-heartthrob-and-action-series films like Twilight and The Hunger Games, a new series is ready to step in and fill its role: Divergent . And while we may have mixed feelings about these young adult series, there’s one thing we can all agree on: The premieres make for some amazing red-carpet moments. Last night’s Divergent premiere in Los Angeles was certainly no exception, with stars like Shailene Woodley, Kate Winslet, Maggie Q, and more making appearances in looks that were as outright sexy as they were undeniably glamorous.

Typically, we would start the red-carpet rundown with the star of the film — Woodley, in this case — but there’s no denying that another celeb, Maggie Q, completely stole the spotlight at the film’s LA premiere. The actress practically melted the red carpet in her ridiculously hot and sexy black Anthony Vaccarello dress, which featured an asymmetrical hem, stud detailing, and a whole lot of skin, thanks to the many cutouts that ran all the way up her right leg. Completing the look with black pumps and nails and sultry, slicked-back hair, Maggie Q had all eyes on her super-toned body.

The film's leading lady also went for a sexy look, although hers was a bit more subtle. Draped in gilded Elie Saab Couture, Woodley looked positively statuesque in her flowing, gold, sequined gown. The one-shouldered dress featured a high side slit, along with a cape-like shoulder and open back, allowing Woodley to show off her fair share of skin, too.

And Maggie Q and Woodley weren’t the only Divergent cast members dressed to impress last night. Winslet, a newly minted Hollywood Walk of Famer, stunned in a red-hot Safiyaa gown that was the definition of elegant minimalism. Pairing the look with nothing but a gold cuff and clutch and a head full of beachy waves, Winslet held her own next to her well-dressed co-stars.

Actress Zoe Kravitz, who plays a supporting role in the film, went for a more casual (if not exactly understated) ensemble, donning an off-the-shoulder Balenciaga mini dress complete with a voluminous satin skirt and intricate lace detailing. She finished off the flirty, feminine look with a simple bun, dangling diamond earrings, and strappy heels.

Even Mad Men’s Kiernan Shipka — who isn’t in the film but exudes cuteness anywhere she shows up — made an appearance at the event, looking gorgeous and impossibly chic for her age in an embroidered, A-line mini dress from Valentino.

For their first major premiere, we'd say the ladies of Divergent really hit the ground running, giving us a slew of memorable looks that will be pretty hard to beat during the rest of the film's press tour.
