My dearly beloved Nick Viall has just started filming his season of The Bachelor, y’all, and I could not be more delighted. It seems like only yesterday he got dumped twice on national television and lived to tell about it. Nick’s getting his third (or fourth, depending on how you look at it) chance at love, and The Bachelor creator is spilling the beans on Twitter on how filming is going. But, could the Nick Viall Bachelor spoilers from Mike Fleiss be revealing too much?
Fleiss started this “I’m going to tweet how the season is going” thing for JoJo’s season of The Bachelorette, and I think, personally, that it was perhaps a response to the many Bachelor and Bachelorette spoilers that abound when the shows are taping. ABC can’t stop civilians from taking snaps and sending them to Reality Steve, the entertainment writer who is probably the bane of Fleiss’ existence. He methodically works to spoil every season of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, and it's not so great to be scooped when you have advertising dollars and viewership at stake, you know? So, Fleiss has been trying to give viewers a sneak peek into what’s going on during filming in a way that he can control.
His tweets are pretty benign so far, but they could mean more. Let’s take a look.
Judgment Day?
This tweet looks like it's just Nick Viall, chilling in between takes, but do you see that woman in the far off distance? It looks like she's wearing a judge's robe. Maybe the contestants have to argue their case for Nick's heart or something?
No New Transportation?
This is a spoiler, albeit not an important one — it just shows that no, The Bachelor will not stop using helicopters to transport its contestants to romantic dates, so just stop asking, OK?
Are There Wedding Bells?
There is usually a gag wedding date in every season of The Bachelor or The Bachelorette, and the person on the date never wins. So mark my words — whoever this lady is, she is not winning Nick's heart. Sorry, nondescript blonde woman.
What About Neil Lane?
Neil Lane supplies all the jewels for The Bachelor and its ilk, but why is he there on night one? Did Nick already pick out his diamond? Does he already know who he is going to choose and this is a big old farce on America? The producers need a sure thing with Nick this season, so I wouldn't be surprised that Neil Lane is getting in on things early.
Why Is Nick Nervous?
Nick, you have been on television three times to find love. If you don't know what to expect by now, I don't know what to tell you.
I don't know about you, but methinks that Fleiss doth protest too much — all of these photos show that he's really not going to reveal the super juicy behind-the-scenes stuff. For that, we'll just have to wait for the premiere of The Bachelor in 2017.
