We Could Be Getting An 'Enchanted' Sequel

by Taylor Ferber

It's been nearly two years since Disney last got audiences' hopes up by teasing a sequel to the 2007 hit Enchanted . The film, starring Amy Adams, was not only a whimsical and comedic blend of live-action and animated goodness, but killed at the box office. Hunky co-stars James Marsden and Patrick Dempsey may or may not have played a key role in that... Anyway, after years of speculation, it looks like the sequel is actually happening. According to Variety, Disney is tapping on Hairspray director Adam Shankman's shoulder to direct an Enchanted sequel called Disenchanted. Here's some of the promising information that's rolled in thus far.

Off the bat, fans should be excited to know that it's likely Adams will be involved with the sequel. In April, the actress said she was excited about talks of a second installment, and expressed hopes of being in it. Although it's been a while since fans have heard of concrete Disenchanted developments, the film has apparently been continuously in the works for a few years now. Sneaky Disney.

Variety also has some intel on the plot, reporting it will be set 10 years after the original, with Princess Giselle questioning her happily ever after and shaking things up both in human world and the fictional Andalasia.

No word on when the premiere will be or if original cast members Marsden, Dempsey, Idina Menzel, Susan Sarandon, or Julie Andrews will return, so fans better start their online petitions and Twitter shout outs ASAP.
