Invite Your Mother To Marathon The 'GG' Revival

by S. Atkinson

You've got everything you need lined up: coffee to watch the Gilmore Girls revival: baked goods, adorable customized Gilmore Girls-themed mug. Heck, you've even cracked out some Christmas tree lights and dug out that knitted throw for maximum coziness. There's just one key ingredient missing: your mom. Re-watching a show that focuses so closely on mother-daughter relationships minus your own mother wouldn't make any sense at all. Luckily for us, Netflix has got the Gilmore Girls Date Night With Mom invites that you didn't know you needed, and they're too darn adorable for words.

The good folks at Netflix have catered for mother-daughter relationships of all sorts, so, if your connection with your mom is more Lorelai and Emily than Rory and Lorelai, hey, don't sweat it. There's a gif or an image for you. If you fall into the Lorelai and Emily category of mom-havers, I should also break some truly excellent news: according to a survey recently conducted by Netflix, "watching the same TV shows, like Gilmore Girls, helps moms and daughters build a stronger relationship."

Sold. Your mom was partly wrong: television may be bad for your eyes, but it's good for your relationships.

If You're Like Lorelai And Emily

If you identify with the 30 percent of women who "know it can be complicated like Lorelai and Emily, but they can't imagine life without each other," this is what you want to send out to your mom to bridge a little of that distance.

But maybe your mom needs more effort: she gave you the gift of life, you can give her a GIF (#sorrynotsorry). This is, dare I say it, even cuter than the drawing above.

If You're Like Lane And Mrs Kim

Are you in the 31 percent of survey respondents who stated that "they may be polar opposites like Lane and Mrs. Kim, but they just want what's best for each other"? For that parent who never let you watch TV as a kid, this is the perfect tongue-in-cheek invitation to get them over for a once-forbidden marathon session.

Because sure, she's strict, but watching Gilmore Girls will be nothing without her.

If You're Like Rory And Lorelai

So you're one of the 39 percent of Netflix survey respondents who stated that they and their mother are "two peas in a pod, and are BFFs." Makes sense: after all, she's not going to judge you for your addiction to takeout since she shares it. Maybe it's genetics or something.

You guys are going to have some serious fun — but you want to make sure she doesn't forget to bring along her witty commentary. Get the most popular mom in town's attention by posting this on her Facebook wall.

It's been a long hard year, and the Gilmore Girls is the televisual comfort food we've been craving so hard. There's no shame. Sometimes nothing in the world is better than a TV marathon alongside the woman who knows you best: your mom.
