Why Would Kim Kardashian Want To Divorce Kanye West? A New Report Claims She Wants To Call It Quits

2016 has been a difficult one for Kimye, and in a shocking new report, an Us Weekly source claims that Kim Kardashian wants to divorce Kanye West after two and a half years of marriage. (Bustle has reached out to a rep for Kardashian for comment, but has not yet received a response.) The report is most shocking because it is surfacing soon after West's hospitalization for exhaustion. Naturally, the timing of this claim leads to the question of why Kardashian would even want to divorce West?

The source, who claimed to be a friend of Kardashian, alleged to Us Weekly, “It will take some time before she can do anything... but she doesn’t want to stay married.” The source also claimed that Kardashian “is being very protective and doesn’t want Kanye around the kids right now."

While the details of West's current state aren't known — his rep only told the New York Times that he was hospitalized for exhaustion — it's safe to say that the past few months of their lives, including Kardashian's Paris robbery in October, have been traumatic and probably caused a lot of stress on both of their ends.

The Us Weekly source claimed that Kardashian is still being supportive. The source said, "She’s being a supportive wife. She cares about Kanye and feels relieved he’s getting the help he needs, but she’s felt trapped for a while."

On Nov. 22, a source claimed to People that West and Kardashian's marriage was hitting a rough spot. They said, “The last few months have been difficult for their marriage... They bicker a lot and things are not great... With the tour canceled, Kim hopes that Kanye will feel better soon... He needs to shape up for them to work out.” On Dec. 3, a source claimed to Us Weekly , "It’s just been hell for them. Kanye’s behavior took a huge toll on their marriage. But Kim feels relieved he is getting the help he needs. She thinks this is what it will take to save him — and help their marriage."

On the contrary, an insider told People on Dec. 1 that rumors of any rifts were inaccurate and that, “there are frustrations and problems, like any relationship, but they love each other deeply.”

Only Kardashian and West know what is best for their family. The couple are reportedly taking the rest of 2016 off of work, so I hope this is a positive step in West and Kardashian rebuilding their relationship.
