I'm not trying to be ungrateful or anything, but can we please just drop the "I Don't Wanna Live Forever" music video already? The lyric video for Zayn and Taylor Swift's duet dropped on Friday, and sorry gift horse, but I'm gonna look right in your mouth. It's just that watching the lyrics to "I Don't Wanna Live Forever" spell themselves out over a glorified trailer for Fifty Shades Darker is a stark reminder of the video that we don't have yet. You know, the one with actual footage of Swift and Zayn stalking around each other, communicating wordlessly and sensually with their eyes. And maybe in some sort of elaborate lingerie or masquerade ball costumes like we see in the Fifty Shades Darker trailer.
OK, maybe I've thought about this too much. But, on the other hand, is there such a thing as thinking about this too much? I've already heard the song and analyzed the lyrics to "I Don't Wanna Live Forever", which basically describe a couple in anguish. I am ready to see that couple now please and thank you. Hearing their voices sing really cleanly in the background while Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson, as Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele, give each other meaningful looks is great and all. It is. But I want the real thing.
Zayn has already been nice enough to confirm that a music video for the song is definitely coming, and you'll probably end up watching that almost as much as you watched the Fifty Shades Darker trailer when it came out. But he wouldn't tell us exactly when, so I'm in pain here, guys. I can't wait all the way until the movie's release on Feb. 14, 2017 for the music video, so it's gotta be before then. I don't wanna wait forever, amirite?
