Emma Goes Back to Her Old Ways (And We Love it!)

by Mary Avant

Remember just last week when the always-fabulous Emma Stone gave us all quite a shock by showing up to a press call in London rocking a boxy, gray, check-print suit from Saint Laurent? And do you also remember the days and weeks before that when she traveled everywhere from Singapore and Beijing to Tokyo and Sydney wearing structured, masculine pieces and casual, flowing ensembles that — while naturally gorgeous — weren’t quite what we’ve come to expect from the funny red head?

Well, just when everyone had come to terms with the idea that Stone’s once-girly style was gone for good in exchange for edgier, menswear-inspired pieces that the star somehow managed to pull off with ease, it looks like she’s gone and switched up her fashion game again. And this time, she’s back to her old ways, picking feminine ensembles and glamorous gowns for her Amazing Spider-Man 2 stops in London, Paris, and Rome.

Hitting Rome in her most elegant and enchanting look yet, Stone walked the red carpet for the film’s premiere wearing one stunner of a Valentino gown. Featuring a sheer, beaded blouse; geometric-print, multi-hued, and voluminous skirt; and one giant, black bow, the gown was a breathtaking reminder of how elegant and truly sensational Stone can (and nearly always does) look on the red carpet.

Earlier in the day, the actress showed up to a photocall in Rome sporting a look that was both classy and classic Stone, pairing a delicate, lace blouse-and-skirt combo from Dolce & Gabbana with a braided hairstyle, glossy pink lip, and ankle-strap peep-toe pumps.

Before heading to Paris — where she donned a bold, draped, all-leather strapless dress from Parisian design label Lanvin — Stone delivered one last memorable look in London when she hit the red carpet in a sunshine-yellow gown from Atelier Versace. With its pleated detailing, cap-sleeve shoulders, slimming waistband, and dramatic open back, the ensemble delivered all of the Old Hollywood glam everyone has come to know and love from Stone.

Sure, catching a glimpse at a new side of Stone's style on this press tour has been refreshing, but there's always something comforting about seeing one of your favorite stars return to her old, glamorous ways once again — even if only for a moment.
