Did They Go On A Date Last Night, Or No?

by Christine DiStasio

They're so not dating, guys. It's only been a few days since Meryl Davis and Maksim Chmerkovskiy won Dancing With The Stars Season 18, but they still won't just tell us the truth about how they're in love. So far this week, Maks and Meryl denied that they were dating on the Wendy Williams Show, following Meryl's confession that they aren't engaged yet because she's stubborn. But really, who believes them — they just need to get it over with already. Because Maks and Meryl totally went on a date in NYC on Thursday night and they're not fooling anyone.

Maks, Meryl and a handful of "friends" — or as I'd like to call them "date night crashers" — went to TAO Downtown in NYC on Thursday night to celebrate their big DWTS win. Our favorite wannabe-lovebirds were joined by the other Chmerkovskiy brother, Val, fellow DWTS-pros Tony Dovolani and Jenna Johnson, and five other pals. But was this really a group-event, or just Maks and Meryl trying to "keep the personal lives personal," like the Olympic ice skater told Wendy Williams?

A source told E! News about the alleged Maksyl non-relationship: "In truth, there is no romance there. They're good friends, but nothing more. The hype about it has been fun, but it's not real."

Who are these sources? Is Meryl asking them to plant these cover-ups? Either way, Instagram is chock full'o'photos of the pair's night out at the popular NYC restaurant. And, even though there are no Maks and Meryl cutesy photos, we can totally tell it was a date. Here are some of the photos:

Maks photobombed the ladies. (Clearly there was dancing.)

And posed with Val and Tony. (Was this a triple date????)

The men coordinated outfits.

(To make it easier for us to not know which one was cozying up to Meryl?)

And Meryl posed with some guys who aren't Maks.

C'mon, you really think that's going to throw us off?

All an elaborate smoke-and-mirrors scheme, right? YOU BET.
