Tinder For Dogs Is Here!

by Emma Cueto

On the list of things that the world never knew it always wanted, a Tinder-style app for doggie adoptions is somewhere close to the top. Yes, you heard that right. Now you can scroll through pictures of dogs looking for adoption, thanks to the new app, BarkBuddy. Awwwww!

The app comes to you courtesy of the makers of BarkBox, the monthly pet goodie basket service, and BarkCare, an in-home vet service, and sources its data from PetFinder, a massive online database of adoptable pets. BarkBuddy currently has about 300,000 dogs with profiles. That's a lot of potential pets!

The app then presents the pictures and profiles to you in the same way Tinder does, by letting you scroll through dogs looking to be adopted in your area. You can filter your search by sex, age, size, and activity level, making it easier to find the perfect pet for you. Or to just stare at photos of puppies whenever you need a cuteness fix. Your choice.

Here are some Brooklyn pups that need a home:

Aww!

I have to say, if this is the future of pet tech, I am totally into it. I mean, yes we now live in a world where you can find a dog to adopt with a phone app, have Ellen Page give it a name via Twitter, and then let a drone take it for a walk, and yes, I know it's all very weird ... But it's an app that let's you scroll through pictures of dogs whenever you want.

Plus, it's helping give homes to the millions of dogs that wind up in animal shelters each year. Everything about it is adorable. And anyone who tries to spoil this for me by making some sort of Tinder/dating/beastiality joke will be met with a death glare to end all death glares.

Now, if you'll excuse me, I have an app to install and puppies to look at.
