He's On His Way to Egotting

by Keertana Sastry

An angry inch took him a Broadway mile. Neil Patrick Harris took home his first Tony Award for Best Actor in a Musical for Hedwig And The Angry Inch. NPH played the title role in this controversial musical and also got to perform some of the insanely brilliant moments in the show.

The win was no shock to anyone except Neil himself, but everyone was excited for the announcement. The crowd erupted in cheers for the beloved actor and he stepped onstage and began his speech by saying how strange it was that he was just hosting the Tonys last year, and now, he was winning one.

The actor then thanked his team on and offstage and transitioned a touching shout-out to his partner David and his two children by saying he was sorry he didn't spend much time with him during this experience, but that he couldn't wait to get back to them.

With this Tony win, NPH continues his road toward EGOT-ing. The actor already has an Emmy Award for his guest starring role on Glee and the cast album for Hedwig and the Angry Inch could get him a Grammy win next year. The only award left would be the Oscar, but it's very possible he could get at least a nod with his role in the upcoming drama Gone Girl.

Watch Neil's acceptance speech here and try not to love him even more. From Doogie Howser to Barney Stinson to Hedwig and Tony winner. There's nothing this guy cannot do.

Fellow Tony Award winner for Hedwig, Lena Hall, was thrilled by NPH's win. Aww!
