Dreamy Italian Venues for George and Amal

by Christine DiStasio

They're not wasting any time. It's only been a month since Hollywood's most famous bachelor, George Clooney, got engaged to Amal Alamuddin. But the couple aren't looking forward to a long engagement, in fact, they plan to tie the knot in under six months. On Friday, People reported that Clooney and Alamuddin will be married in September in Italy. Where, you ask — the couple has yet to choose a location, but that's not stopping me from starting my countdown.

According to the report, a source close to the 36-year-old lawyer's family spilled the beans about the couple's nuptial plans. Well, with a little help from the 53-year-old actor's good pal, supermodel Cindy Crawford. People revealed that last week, photographers in Paris asked the model if she was in town for Clooney's wedding, to which she replied matter-of-factly, "It's in September." So it appears that that's somewhat confirmed.

But, before you jump to conclusions that Clooney's Italian wedding will be at his dreamy Lake Como estate, think again. According to the same source close to his fiancée's family, Clooney and Alamuddin are in the market for a more secluded location in the beautiful country that recently hosted the wedding of Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. I mean, I can't imagine it being that treacherous to get married on your own, private property — but whatever George Clooney wants is fine with me. The source also shed light on what the future Mr. and Mrs. Clooney plan to do for their reception. People reported that the couple plan to hold the ceremony in Italy and follow it up with a party in Alamuddin's Lebanese hometown. Quite the globe-trotting affair.

So, if they won't be marrying at Como, where should Clooney and Alamuddin tie the knot? We've got a few ideas:

Verona

I mean, it was good enough for Romeo and Juliet.

Assisi

A small, classic town. Perfect for keeping it "low key."

Lake Misurina

If they can't get married by Lake Como, at least there are plenty of other beautiful lakes to choose from. Like this one.

Volterra

Medieval, central Tuscany with a great view — perfection.

Atrani

In case they're thinking about swapping lakeside for seaside.
