Mobama and J.Lo Make One Really Classy Couple

by Mary Avant

It's a simple fact of life: There are just some combos that are meant to be together. Peanut butter and jelly; salt and pepper; black and white hues in a classic ensemble; Nicole Richie and Paris Hilton. (Sorry, that last one was just my misguided nostalgia for The Simple Life , but I think you see what I’m saying.) And now I think we can add one more combo to that already-long list: First Lady Michelle Obama and pop queen Jennifer Lopez.

“Michelle Obama and Jennifer Lopez?” you may ask in astonishment. And I totally get your confusion. After all, the two ladies have rarely, if ever, combined before and definitely have a drastically different approach when it comes to fashion — with Mobama sporting the most classy-chic wardrobe you’ve probably ever seen and Lopez regularly opting for leotards and ultra-glam ensembles like her dress-meets-jumpsuit outfit at the recent Versace show.

But the second I saw the power pair come together for a great cause on Thursday at the LULAC/NUVOtv Unity Luncheon in New York City, I knew without a doubt that they were one cute, classy, and adorably girly fashion duo that I could definitely get used to seeing time and time again.

Looking like an entirely different woman than the one we caught front row just days before at the Versace show in Paris, Lopez went all “lady who lunches” on us with a baby pink, peplum pencil skirt and sheer, beautifully embroidered blouse. Finishing the look flawlessly with a loose updo, glossy pink lips, and a sensible pair of Bionda Castana heels, the actress and singer gave us one of the sweetest and most feminine looks we’ve seen from her in quite some time.

Never straying from her love of lady-like sundresses and seasonal-appropriate prints, the First Lady looked as lovely as ever in a sleeveless, A-line, and floral print Tanya Taylor dress, which she paired with sleek hair, a notable lack of accessories, and a pair of metallic silver kitten heels.

Though I have an endless amount of love and admiration for J.Lo's many skintight bodysuits and super-short minidresses, I think it can do a lady good every now and then to go the girly, polished route — especially when you have Mobama to guide you along the way.
