What Happened with These Two?
Remember back in February when, for a Hollywood minute, we were blessed with a new celeb couple in the form of Michelle Rodriguez and Cara Delevingne? Earlier this year, the Fast and Furious actress opened up to the Mirror about her relationship with Delevingne, and she seemed pretty smitten with the supermodel. “It’s going really well. She’s so cool. When we started hanging out, I just thought she was awesome, and we have the best time together. She’s hard though. You wouldn’t want to mess with her in a fight.” At the time, a source added, “It’s still really fresh and exciting for both of them. They’re really happy and loved-up, and spending as much time together as possible. They’re also forever texting and messaging one another.” So how did the couple move on from being so lovey-dovey in February, going tuk tuk racing and hitting up the London Zoo, to separate summer vacays?
For one, Rodriguez is in an unconfirmed but obvious relationship with Zac Efron. They’ve been spending the summer in Ibiza, yachting it up, cuddling, and flyboarding — some sort of water-propelled jetpack recreational activity that rich celebs do. Rodriguez and Efron could simply be a summer fling, of course. Rumors started earlier this July when they were spotted making out in Sardinia during a romantic vacation, and then Efron was seen leaving Rodriguez's L.A. home early one morning with a night bag in hand. Sources said he spent the night out with her and some friends. But with how Rodriguez spent her birthday in SoHo a few days before, friends have said that she was acting "very single" before anything with Efron even happened.
As for Delevingne, she's been in St. Tropez, partying with Selena Gomez to celebrate the "Come and Get It" singer's birthday. They've been busy riding helicopters and attending Leonardo DiCaprio's fundraising event. The two seem as inseparable as Rodriguez and Efron, really, and it makes me wonder if maybe Delevingne and Gomez are on some sort of relationship recuperation kick. I mean, Gomez was recovering from yet another break-up with Justin Bieber, and with how randomly Efron and Rodriguez started dating — or, making out in public — it just seems like Delevingne could be recovering from a split of her own. Sometimes it's better to get over a breakup with friends who just know what you're going through.
We can't be sure how long Delevingne and Rodriguez were really dating before Rodriguez gave The Mirror such a candid interview. For all we know, they were dating long before that, so maybe their relationship was more serious than just hanging out courtside, watching basketball. But we do know that come summer both ladies headed off in separate directions. They both love the beach and yet they chose to experience some beach fun in separate countries. A single Delevingne is cavorting with friends, while Rodriguez seems to be on a quickie summer rebound with Efron. With everything being widely covered in entertainment news, it's almost like they're trying to tell each other that they're doing just fine without the other. And it looks like they really are.
