How Tall Are Your Favorite 'Harry Potter' Stars?

by Casey Rackham

Probably one of the most spell-breaking realizations — pun very much intended — is finding out how tall actors in your favorite movies actually are. Thanks to a handy Harry Potter height chart created by MTV News, we can now see for ourselves just how short or tall the wizards and witches of Harry Potter are compared to their costars.

Through the magic of filmmaking, directors often make certain actors or actresses appear taller or shorter on film to achieve the look they're going for. Considering Robbie Coltrane — you know, the man who played half-giant Rubeus Hagrid — is the same height as Alan Rickman — they're both 6 feet and 1 inch — we can all assume that the Harry Potter series most definitely used a few tricks to make Hagrid look as if he was towering over Snape.

But what about the other actors? Like, how tall is Daniel Radcliffe really? Well, according to MTV News' chart, he's pretty much one of the shortest males and females in the cast. Coming in at 5 feet and 5 inches, Radcliffe is two inches shorter than his on-screen lover Bonnie Wright. (But if we all think back to Harry and Ginny's kiss in the final movie, then it shouldn't be a surprise that he's on the shorter side.)

Take a look at where a few of the other members of the Hogwarts crew stand:

James and Oliver Phelps are as tall as approximately 15 iPhone 5S's.

The Weasley twins are both 6 feet and 3 inches tall.

Alfred Enoch is as tall as 10 Mean Girls' DVD cases.

The Gryffindor chaser and Ginny's ex-boyfriend is 6 feet and .5 inches tall.

Matthew Lewis is as tall as 6.2 bottles of wine (average bottle height).

The bumbling wizard is 5 feet and 11.5 inches tall.

Rupert Grint is as tall as approximately 5.2 of his wands.

Harry's bestie is 5 feet and 8 inches tall.

Helena Bonham Carter is as tall as 15.5 Maybelline Great Lash Mascaras.

The Voldemort groupie is 5 feet and 2 inches tall.
