8 Ways to Hodor-ify Your Life
By now, you're probably aware of the bad news: the fifth season of Game of Thrones won't feature either Bran or Hodor, despite the two characters being fan favorites of many of the show's viewers. The reason for the duo's absence makes perfect sense — neither of the men are featured in the book the show's season 5 is covering — but all the same, the news is a big disappointment for fans who'd looked forward to seeing one of Thrones' most unlikely duos traipse through Westeros all season long.
Fortunately, though, the absence of Bran and Hodor on the series doesn't mean that the actors who portray them have to be gone from viewers' lives, too. There are plenty of ways to still get your Bran and Hodor Thrones fix during their year away; 15-year-old Isaac Hempstead-Wright, for instance, who plays Bran, is the lead voice actor in an animated film, The Boxtrolls , out Sept. 26. And as for Kristian Nairn, the actor behind the most beloved, language-limited giant on TV? He's going to be everywhere — well, sort of. Here are eight ways to fill your life with Hodor even when he's no longer on Game of Thrones:
Attend a "Rave of Thrones" Party
When he's not starring on Thrones, Nairn moonlights as a DJ, under the name "kharmonix." Recently, he began a "Rave of Thrones" tour in Australia, where, throughout August and September, he's hosting Thrones-themed parties that've mixed house music with cosplay, EDM with Iron Thrones. If you don't live Down Under and are bummed you're missing out on what's clearly the greatest TV/music collaboration ever made, perk up: starting in October, Nairn is moving the tour to America, when he'll be playing a show at a Blues Club in New York. Get your glowsticks/direwolves ready.
See Treasure Trapped
It's not out yet, but a Kickstarter-backed documentary called Treasure Trapped is set to be released at some point this year. About the LARP community, it stars Nairn and two other actors, and is a deep dive into a world where fantasy (sometimes) meets reality.
Buy a Hodor Figurine
Because what desk is complete without a 10cm tall collectable figure of Hodor watching over from the corner?
Or This Hodor T-Shirt
Feeling a little shy? Let your outfit speak for you by wearing a T-shirt decorated solely with "Hodor."
Or a Hodor Mug
Oh my god, I want it all.
Listen to "Hodor in the House"
Back in June, somebody made a dance remix of the Game of Thrones theme song that's basically just a mashup of Hodor saying "Hodor" with a techno version of the song. It is perfect.
Send Someone This Birthday Card
I mean, Name Day card. It may be simple, but it does get the point across.
Re-Watch Game of Thrones
Or you could just sit back, relax, and watch four seasons worth of Game of Thrones. The show doesn't come back for at least another six months, so you'll have plenty of time to revisit Westeros, the Starks, and of course, Hodor. Hodor? Hodor.
