Exciting 'Hunger Games' Casting News

by Lindsay Mannering

The more casting news for Hunger Games: Catching Fire and Mockingjay, the more we can actually start to picture the movies coming together, and yeah, they're something we're looking forward to. A few days ago we learned that Game of Thrones star Natalie Dormer will play Cressida, and today the Catching Fire Twitter feed confirmed that Stef Dawson will play Annie Cresta in Mockingjay Parts 1 and 2.

If the name Annie Cresta rings a bell, but you can't quite place her in the books, here's a quick refresher. She's Finnick's mentally unstable wife and mother of his child. A victor from District 4, she understandably loses her mind when she sees her district partner beheaded in the Games, and never really comes to terms with it. In Catching Fire's Quarter Quell, Annie is reaped, but Mags takes her place, since Annie is not fit to fight. In Mockingjay, the Capitol kidnaps Annie to get to Finnick. She's an odd bird, but Finnick loves her very, very much. It's sweet ... until, you know, something happens to Finnick that brings the story kind of full circle.

But enough about Annie. What about Stef Dawson, the actress behind the role? To be honest, I've never heard of her, and her IMDB page doesn't offer much insight. I don't recognize a single project she's been in, and it seems as if she has a penchant for short films. Oh, she's Australian. So there's that.

Mockingjay will likely be Dawson's big break and we're excited to see how she does. One thing's for certain, though: she'll definitely have the best hair in the movie. Girl's got mad Brave locks.

Mockingjay: Part 1 opens wide Nov. 21, 2014, and Mockingjay: Part 2 will open Nov. 20, 2015. Catching Fire's coming Nov. 22, 2013.
