Rihanna & Brad Pitt Are Collaborating
Say what you want about Rhianna, but Bad Girl Rhi Rhi is a giver. She gives us awesome music on the regular. She gives us something to talk about with her provocative and eye-opening outfits. She gives us one of the best celebrity Instagrams out there — now that Rihanna's Instagram is no longer deleted, that is. Now she's giving us one of the strangest celebrity team ups that I have ever heard of. In 2014, the pop singer is putting on this first-ever charity event and Rihanna has enlisted Brad Pitt and Jimmy Kimmel to help her with the Diamond Ball. According to the website, it's a black-tie fund-raising event to amass money for the the Clara Lionel Foundation.
Rihanna founded the Humanitarian organization in 2012 and named it in honor of her grandparents, Clara and Lionel Brathwaite. The foundation "works to improve the quality of life for communities globally in the areas of health, education, arts, and culture," and, on December 11, Rihanna herself will be performing at the Diamond Ball at the Vineyard in Beverly Hills. The official press release for the event promised special guests would be announced soon, but, and I don't know about you, I wasn't expecting the current Mr. Angelina Jolie to be among those guests.
Then again, I probably shouldn't be all that surprised. In 2012, Pitt enlisted Rihanna, Kanye West, and other stars to help with a charity gala of his own in New Orleans to benefit his Make It Right foundation. That's the thing about giving back to the community. Philanthropists form a community of their own of people who care enough about causes to actually devote time and attention to not only contributing, but encouraging others to contribute as well. The fact that Rihanna and Pitt are teaming up again just stands as proof that celebrity philanthropists probably have a secret Facebook group for when they need to get together to do some good or something.
"It is such an honor to have Jimmy Kimmel host this event," said Rihanna in her official statement regarding the decision. "There is no one more hilarious to make the first annual Diamond Ball an incredible night. I’m blessed by his support. Brad Pitt is not only a phenomenal talent, but I admire him and am inspired by his philanthropic work." Now all we need is for Rihanna to reveal that the Diamond Ball is going to come with a charity album featuring the singing stylings of Pitt and Kimmel and my life will truly be complete.
