Who's Peter's Frat Bro Pube Related to on 'Mindy'?

by Allyson Koerner

What about Peter? Not only is that Tuesday's episode title of The Mindy Project, but it's a very good question. We all know Peter Prentice (played by Adam Pally) is just one of the many crazy doctor's delivering babies on the FOX comedy, but what do we know about the man himself? Well, Peter's never not sharing ridiculous college stories featuring quite the characters aka his frat brothers. One in particular is nicknamed "Pube," and yes, the actor playing Pube is related to Ike Barinholtz.

We've heard Peter talk about his friend on several occasions, but we've yet to see him in the flesh. Luckily, we'll learn even more about him before Pally leaves the series (excuse me while I go cry in a corner) after Episode 13 of Season 3.

Finally, on Tuesday, Dec. 2, we will get a glimpse of Pube, during a crazy party thrown at Peter's, or "Diarrhea" as he so wisely selected as his nickname. So, just who is playing the man with such an unfortunate nickname? It is none other than Jon Barinholtz. Does that name sound familiar? It should, seeing as he's Ike Barinholtz's (Morgan Tookers) real-life brother. I guess Jon is feeling all the brotherly love possible on and off the small screen. Just who is this Jon? Lucky for you, I've dug up a few fun tidbits for all you Mindy fans, before the episode airs.

He's Got All the Training Needed for a Comedy Career

Like Pube, who went to college at Dartmouth, Jon graduated from Colgate University with a degree in English Creative Writing. He also completed training programs at The Annoyance Theatre, IO (formerly Improv Olympic), The Second City Conservatory, and The School of Steppenwolf 2007. He's also part of the Sad on Vacation comedy group. Yeah, I'd say he knows a thing or two about comedy.

This Isn't the First Show He's Starred in With Pally

Apparently, Jon guest-starred in an episode of Happy Endings. However, I don't think it was too big of a role seeing as he's listed as "Cute Guy." Thankfully, we get to see the two portray fictional frat bros, which will more than likely be amusing.

He Has Quite the Comical Resume

In addition to The Mindy Project and Happy Endings, Jon has also starred in Parks and Recreation, Getting On, New Girl, The McCarthys, Dumb and Dumber To, and Pie Guys. Anyone else see the family resemblance between Ike and Jon in this photo? I don't know about you, but I totally see it.

He and Ike Are Fantastic On Screen Together

Jon and Ike have appeared together in Comedy Central's Pie Guys about three delivery drivers working at an L.A. pizzeria. It also stars Mort Burke (he played intern Parker on Mindy) and Jim Belushi's son, Robert Belushi.

Will Ike and Jon have any scenes together on Mindy? I'm not sure, but hopefully we'll get to see some interaction. Clearly, both possess talent and comedy skills, which will make for one great episode.
