Kris Jenner Joins The Kim. K Game

by Kristie Rohwedder

Kaptain’s Log: Day 160. Though I am not the devoted player I was once upon a time, I have yet to leave the Kim Kardashian: Hollywood trenches for good. A lot has happened in the past few months: My avatar clawed her way back to the top of the A-list, only to promptly fall from her perch; she got married; she got divorced; she’s traveled the globe at least one thousand times; she acquired a pair of fangs; she purchased a pair of fashionable overalls; and she met Kris Jenner.

Monday morning, Kim called my avatar while she was kicking it in Punta Mita (i.e., checking underneath that lone beer bottle for a lightning bolt). My avatar answered immediately. Kim told my avatar to drop whatever she was doing and swing by Beverly Hills. Why? Kris Jenner wanted to meet my avatar.

That's right: Kris Jenner wanted to get to know lil ol’ me, er, my avatar.

Kris is the first of Kim's family members to be added to the game. (Khloe Kardashian and Kourtney Kardashian are reportedly next.) So, what's the occasion? The Kris avatar explained that she and Kim are on a mission to raise real-life awareness and money for The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria:

Go on...

I clicked "I'd love to!" because duh.

The mother-daughter duo went back and forth about whether or not Kim is capable of planning the "special celebration." My avatar stood between them, silently basking in the glory of a Kim/Kris fight. Here are few highlights from their exchange:

Kris doesn't think Kim can handle it!

"Oh, my God, Mom!"

In addition to the "promotional projects" and the "special celebration," the game added a (PRODUCT) RED fundraiser. If you spend real-life ducats on any of the following items…

…100% of that money will go to (RED). Well, I'll be! What a great kause. Say what you will about the Kardashian-Jenners, but it's pretty awesome they're using the mega-popular mobile game to raise money for kharity. If you need an incentive to buy the (PRODUCT) RED items beyond "it's for a great kause," FOR SHAME.

...OK yes, there is another incentive:

If you buy the (PRODUCT) RED items, you will earn a bonus star whenever you begin a "(RED) quest." In other words, they make completing the "(RED) quests" and earning the "exclusive rewards" easier.

So, what are these “(RED) quests”? The first is the Speak Up gala photo shoot that Kris asked my avatar to go to:

I won't be able to attend the photo shoot for another 20 hours:

I mean, if I had 44 K stars, I could attend right this second:

But as you can see, I am short 27 K stars. Unless my avatar suddenly wins the K star lottery, I will have to wait 20 hours before I find out what the "exclusive rewards" are.

In the interim, I will five-star normal tasks (e.g., photo shoots), and receive red stars:

Those red stars go toward earning the following "fab prizes":

And it never hurts your gameplay to scoop up more accessories.

In summary: There are a few new ways to rack up game points, and there's one really easy way to donate to a terrific cause.
