It was the slap heard 'round the world. OK, so maybe it was only heard around the world that includes the begrudgingly Bachelor-obssessed, like myself, but it was heard. In Chris Soules' Bachelor promo, Chris Harrison slaps the newly-crowned Prince Farming not long before the promo teases a pregnancy test eking its way into the once-squeaky clean (ABC wishes) Bachelor waters. Maybe they're related, maybe ABC condensed an entire season's worth of un-related scraps into a drama-drenched little video. So why does Chris Harrison slap Chris Soules?
Well, from the looks of the slap, it's a sort of affectionate, joking slap. There is no fire in Harrison's eyes, though, let's be honest: the closest we've come to fire in Chris Harrison's eyes was the shattered soul in disbelief that came forth when Juan Pablo refused to say "I Love You" for the Bachelor viewers last season.
So what gives? Is this slap a real slap, a fun-loving slap, or a "Come At Me, Bro, This Show Needs Drama, PLEASE, FIGHT ME, I'LL GIVE YOU A DOLLAR, PRETTY PLEASE" slap? Well, knowing these two Chrises as I pretend to, I've got a few solid guesses (that are by no means poking fun at the illustrious Bachelor franchise, no way):
1. Chris Is Getting a Little Too Frisky On Limo Night
Hey, the promo is already trying to convince us that Chris potentially got someone pregnant (though let's be real, that's now how biology or time works — this is a two-month shoot, y'all). Could the promo also be showing us that Chris "Nice Guy" Soules is letting his good guy image go in favor of pulling a Juan Pabs on limo night?
OK, probably not.
2. Chris Got Into A Little Too Much Moonshine The Night Before
Harrison is just trying to keep Chris awake so he can meet his lady love, duh.
3. Chris Asked Mr. Harrison To Slap Him, Because He's Just SO DARN EXCITED TO BE EMBARKING ON THIS JOURNEY AND OMG HOW PRETTY ARE ALL THESE GIRLS — THE PRODUCERS DEFINITELY DIDN'T TELL ME TO SAY THIS.
