Martin Lawrence is Back On & That's a Bad Idea

by Nicole Pomarico

This is not a drill: it would appear that Chris Martin and Jennifer Lawrence are actually back together. After reportedly spending a few months apart, Martin and Lawrence were spotted out to dinner at Kiwami Sushi on New Year's Eve, and for the first time, photographic evidence of their relationship actually surfaced on Twitter. And as if that isn't enough to blow you away, People has heard from an anonymous insider that their relationship is on solid ground and has been for awhile. As much as I've been hoping that Martin Lawrence was never actually a thing in the first place, it seems like I am out of luck. Jennifer Lawrence and Chris Martin are most likely back together.

"[They] are still dating and have been dating," the source claims. "Even though they are both busy, the relationship is solid. They see each other when they can."

Ugh. They probably are together, and I hate it. It's not that I don't wish for Lawrence's happiness. As a giant Lawrence/Hunger Games fangirl, I strongly believe that she deserves the best. And Chris Martin definitely seems like a nice enough guy, and his little band has released a hit or two. But Lawrence and Martin as a couple? Not the best idea, for all kinds of reasons.

The age difference is kind of awkward

I know, I know. Age is just a number. But being that Martin's number is 37 and Lawrence's is 24, I'd say these two are in totally different places in their lives, which will almost definitely be a cause of conflict later in their relationship when the honeymoon period wears off. I feel like they'd both benefit from finding someone closer to their own age to spend their time with, because a gap of more than ten years is quite a bit.

Lawrence didn't take much time to be single

As far as we know, Lawrence and her long-term boyfriend, Nicholas Hoult, reportedly broke things off in the beginning of August 2014 and two weeks later, reports started showing up that she was dating Martin. Hey, timing is timing — but if I had gotten out of a relationship that lasted for longer than three years, I'd want to take a break from guys and just be by myself for awhile. Just ask Taylor Swift. It can make all the difference in the world.

Do you really want to mess with Gwyneth Paltrow?

I don't care how many times Paltrow says she's fine with it. As a 40-year-old, recently divorced woman, is she not pissed that her ex-husband turned around and started dating someone half her age? Of course, if anyone was highly evolved enough to actually be happy for her ex in this situation, it would be Paltrow, but still. Not to mention the fact that Paltrow is one of the most powerful and wealthy women in Hollywood. If I were Lawrence, I'd want to be on her good side, lest she Goop all over me.
