Now that Barry Allen is returning to The CW, how quickly can we expect to see his nemesis, The Man In The Yellow Suit? Tom Cavanagh revealed that Harrison Wells is Reverse-Flash, but will he return to The Flash ? On one hand, he's never left. He's always there, creeping in S.T.A.R. Labs. However, it may be a while before that yellow suit emerges from its evil cubby. According to the official CW description for the upcoming episode "Revenge of the Rogues,"
"Barry asks Dr. Wells, Caitlin and Cisco to help him double his training efforts so he's ready for the Reverse Flash when he returns to Central City."
Bless his little heart. No wonder Barry Allen likes Iris West, they're both so adorably oblivious to their surroundings. So it looks like the costumed Reverse-Flash is keeping his distance for the time being. Meanwhile, this has got to be Wells' best week ever. Can you imagine how many inside jokes he gets to make with himself now? Now that Barry has fought Reverse-Flash, and is asking Wells for help to defeat him, his whole life is a double entendre. There's so much dramatic irony running through S.T.A.R. Labs at this point that I wouldn't be surprised if the particle accelerator exploded again.
However, if you're more into arch nemeses than cold guns, never fear! The creators and stars of The Flash have assured us that Reverse-Flash won't be gone for long.
Training Montage
Well, there you have it! We see a glimpse of Reverse-Flash in the preview above, now easily identifiable as Harrison Wells. This goes along with an earlier teaser, which showed Barry's enthusiasm about training on the treadmill, improving his suit, and getting faster. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, actor Grant Gustin expanded on what this training would entail.
“He’s trying to get faster and not just straight up speed, but his agility and maneuvering within it and what he can do with this speed... He has a bar set. He has to be at least as fast as the Reverse Flash. That’s what he wants to focus on, but as per usual, other things start to get in the way and Barry has to focus on other things.”
Maybe Barry Allen should install Arrow's salmon ladder. I'm just saying, as long as Oliver Queen is dead, it should go to a good home. Also, in the above trailer, we see some of those things that get in the way. Barry has other antagonists to figure out, and other love interests!
Fleshed Out
If this concept art, designed by John Gallagher, tells us anything, it's that Reverse-Flash isn't going anywhere. He'll be back!
More To Come
In the same interview with Entertainment Weekly, not only did Gustin promise more Reverse-Flash, he alluded to some surprises down the road. Looks like Cavanaugh's spoiler may not have completely ruined things after all.
“There’s a big twist that even surprised me. I’ve seen all the predictions online. No one has predicted the big twist that’s coming at the end of this season.”
Oh, really? Challenge accepted!
