Given how things took a turn for the worst last week, I knew Thursday night's Vampire Diaries episode "Prayer for the Dying" would be full of heartache. (I mean, the title kinda says it all, right?) What I didn't expect, though, was to see the main two TVD 'shipping pairs Delena and Steroline fighting with each other. You see, apparently vampire blood takes any cancer patient's condition into overdrive, making their cancer cells speed up rather than slow down, eventually killing them. The problem is, with vamp blood in their system, they can't stay dead, causing the victims to go into a state of perpetual pain for all eternity. Not the ideal situation for the kind and lovable Sheriff Forbes, ya know? But while that in itself was terrible news, the real kicker was how quick Damon and Elena were at playing the blame game.
Elena told Stefan how irresponsible it was for him to allow Caroline to do such a careless thing without thinking it through. Meanwhile, Damon made his disapproval of Caroline's actions quite clear as well. But really, doesn't that seem SUPREMELY unfair? I mean, Elena scolding someone about making a bad decision? Really? This is the girl who decided to wipe away her entire memories of her boyfriend because she didn't want to have to live with the pain. Who turned off her emotions entirely when her brother died. But yeah, Caroline, who's mom is on her deathbed should definitely be reprimanded for her lack of good judgment.
And then there's Damon. Don't get me wrong, I love him to death, but when he makes sweet Caroline Forbes cry, I'd be amiss not to put my foot down. Yes, she made a mistake, but he's made plenty throughout his many lifetimes and for much less honorable purposes. Thankfully Stefan immediately came to Caroline's rescue on both fronts. So as much as I'm Team Delena all the way 98 percent of the time, this round goes to Team Steroline in my book.
