Johnny Weir Wins The Super Bowl Of Sparkle

by Maitri Suhas

If one of your Superbowl-induced anxieties was nervously anticipating what figure skater turned commentator Johnny Weir would wear to Super Bowl XLIX, fear not, because as always, he went above and beyond. Weir, who's known not only for his triple axels but for his incredible glamourous garb, has dressed to impress in the past with his heavenly Kentucky Derby hat. He gives Queen Elizabeth a run for her money. He's always with his pal, fellow figure skater Tara Lipinski, who definitely did her part to match Weir's hat game at the Derby, and who along with Weir is a reporter at the Super Bowl preshow. Weir turned it out more than ever when he appeared on screen at the Super Bowl on Sunday.

Weir posted a photo to his Instagram of his sparkly Super Bowl ensemble with his best Blue Steel gaze. Weird was wearing a skintight facsimile of a football uniform, but ten times more amazing: padded at the chest and shoulders, the all black uniform has tons of flashy electric blue sequins all up on his chest piece and sleeves. And to top it all off, literally, he wore a cheeky little hat, shaped like a football.

How will Katy Perry even try to follow Johnny Weir's quota of glamour? She's got big shoes to fill—and those shoes are all black Giuseppe Zanotti sneakers.
