Nick Gordon Puts Bobbi Kristina's Recovery First

by Martha Sorren

This past few weeks have been very hard for Nick Gordon. After his girlfriend, Bobbi Kristina Brown, was discovered unconscious in her bathtub, she was rushed the hospital where she remains unresponsive. Although he hasn't been allowed to see her, he is committed to her recovery, and Nick Gordon released a new statement saying he respects Bobbi Kristina's family's wishes that he not visit. Via his lawyer, Randy Kessler, Gordon said that he desperately wants to see his girlfriend, but will not go against what her family wants.

Nick has been trying, privately, to do everything he can to see Bobbi Kristina cooperatively. He has respected the family's wishes and for that reason alone has not returned to the hospital and risked a public confrontation. But he desperately wants to be with the one he loves and continues to hope that his request will be granted.

The Brown family has been at odds with Gordon long before Bobbi Kristina was admitted to the hospital. Although she referred to Gordon as her husband, family has clarified that they were never officially wed. But the distrust doesn't end there. Whitney Houston's sister-in-law, and executor of her estate, Marion Houston filed a protective restraining order against Gordon in March 2014. Reportedly, Bobbi Kristina and Nick Gordon were displeased with the way Marion was handling Whitney's estate, and Marion felt threatened. "Marion stated that Mr. Gordon has turned Krissy against the family and in the process has said threatening statements to Marion and other family members," the official police report reads.

People magazine says that a Georgia court granted Marion's restraining order in April 2014, and that it "forbids any contact between Gordon and [Marion] Houston as well as Houston's 'immediate family.'" This is likely why he's being prevented from coming to the hospital if Bobbi Kristina is surrounded by both the Brown and Houston family. Add to that the criminal investigation into why Bobbi Kristina was found the way she was, and it's not all that surprising Gordon hasn't been allowed to visit.

But despite all this, I'm glad to see that Gordon is handling things maturely. He has respected the family's wishes that he not visit Bobbi Kristina, and his number one focus is on her recovery. It shows that he really does care the most about her well-being, ahead of his own wishes, and, if her family thinks him being there will hinder her healing, then he won't go.

It's a hard decision to swallow when you love someone, but I think it's the right one at this time. The last thing Bobbi Kristina needs is a confrontation around her while she's trying to recover, and I'm glad Gordon understands that.
