'Mockingjay' Should Win Every 2015 MTV Movie Award

by Alexis Rhiannon

The 2015 MTV Movie Award nominations were announced this morning, and we've already noticed some things about them, like how weird it is that Guardians of the Galaxy is nominated in the same category as Selma, and how "Breakthrough Performance" nominee David Oyelowo has actually been working in the industry for over a decade. But one of the most important things that caught our eye was the fact that The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1 wasn't nominated in every MTV Movie Awards category. It made it into a lot of them, but COME ON PEOPLE, ARE WE AMATEURS? This may not have been the most action-packed movie in the series, but if we want any hope of Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson and the whole gang showing up to the ceremony, we have to stack the odds in our favor. Pun bigtime intended.

And honestly, how can we call ourselves serious fans if we don't bend over backward to get these movies every ounce of critical acclaim possible? No matter how much everyone loves them, it all means nothing without a full trophy case. Just a childhood life lesson for all of you.

So with that in mind, here are the ways that we could've (and should've!) worked a Mockingjay nomination into every category. Watch and learn.

Movie Of The Year

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1

Great work here, MTV. No notes.

Jennifer Lawrence – The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1

Once again, this all checks out.

Best Male Performance

If you don't think Philip Seymour Hoffman absolutely owned that role, then you and I saw two different movies.

Best Scared-As-S**t Performance

Oh I'm sorry, did you not see Katniss freaking out on the stairs when the doors were closing and she couldn't find Prim? Mic drop.

Breakthrough Performance

Really gotta give it up for J-Law's wig in this one. Powerful stuff, especially for a newcomer.

Best Shirtless Performance

OKAY FINE, I WILL GIVE YOU THIS ONE AS NO ONE WAS ACTUALLY SANS SHIRT. But don't think I'm happy about it.

Best Duo

Honestly cannot believe I have to be the one to nominate Lawrence and Hutcherson for those bomb-ass joint interviews. Sure, it wasn't in the movie itself, but I defy you to find a more charming duo.

Best Fight

Um, NBD, but Katniss and Peeta were like best friends and then he got turned into a weapon to destroy her. That's not only the best fight of the year, it's the best fight of all time. (Except maybe Rocky, which I have heard is an entire movie about fighting.)

Best Kiss

Katniss and Gale definitely make mouths on each other in this movie, throw them on the list. If there's someone who could touch tongues with Liam Hemsworth and not make it steamy, I'd love to meet them.

Best WTF Moment

Come on. That's gotta be when they split the third book into two movies only to have absolutely nothing happen in Part 1. Definite WTF moment for all of us.

Best Villain

Really? You weren't creeped out by Donald Sutherland's blood-chilling portrayal of President Snow? That was just me?

Best Musical Moment

Jennifer Lawrence – The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1

Doy.

Best Comedic Performance

Oh my god, Katniss' terrible performance in that first propaganda video even though she's played by Lawrence, who's legit won an Oscar? Genius.

Best On-Screen Transformation

Elizabeth Banks – The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1

You right, you right. Also high points for the CGI on Skinny Hutcherson.

And there you have it! Hope you were taking notes, MTV. I'm expecting to see the changes on my desk by the end of the day.
