Tom Hiddleston Vs. Harry Styles: Who Said It?

by Loretta Donelan

At first glance, there doesn't seem to be much in common between Tom Hiddleston and Harry Styles. One is a pop star; one is an actor. One looks like a heartthrob; one is unconventionally attractive. However, both stars have rabid Tumblr fan bases, probably not entirely unrelated to their British accents. Even better, both men are feminists who have supported Emma Watson's HeForShe campaign.

And both Hiddleston and Styles talk about love a lot. They seem to have an old-fashioned romantic sensibility, both chivalrous and feminist, that the media has picked up on. They also know their fan bases, and they know what they crave. Or maybe it's just because swoony journalists like to ask them about love. Though there's quite an age difference between the two heartthrobs — thirteen years — it's surprisingly difficult to tell their words on the subject of love apart.

Is it Styles being remarkably mature for his tender years, or is it Hiddleston being adorably innocent? Take this quiz to try and guess which star said which thing about love.

Quote 1

“Make sure you tell the people you love that you love them. Loudly and often. You never know when it might be too late."

This was a tweet from Hiddleston.

Quote 2

"I find ambition really attractive too — if someone's good at something they love doing. I want someone who is driven."

Harry Styles loves ambitious ladies.

Quote 3

"I'm quite old-fashioned. I like going out to dinner. You have the chance to talk to somebody and get to know them better."

Also Harry Styles.

Quote 4

“I think if you're going to be conventionally romantic you've got to go all the way: a beautiful dinner somewhere lovely, with boat-loads of flowers, chocolates and champagne. But it might also be nice to wrap up warm and sit on a roof somewhere, with a cup of hot soup and your girl, watch the planes come in over London and listen to the night."

Hiddleston agrees about romantic dinners, with the added benefits of soup.

Quote 5

“I guess the sexiest thing in the world is when I meet someone and they seem like they are themselves. You know, be yourself."

Classic Hiddleston.

Quote 6

"I don't think you can really define love."

Well, you sure seem to talk about it a lot, Harry Styles.

Quote 7

"You look at the greatest villains in human history, the fascists, the autocrats, they all wanted people to kneel before them because they don't love themselves enough."

Tom Hiddleston sends us out with some self-love.
