A Live-Action 'Mulan' Is In Development & Here Are All The Other Live-Action Disney Films In The Works

Disney knows what's working, and the corporation isn't slowing its roll any time soon. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Disney is developing a live-action version of Mulan , the 1998 animated musical about a woman who poses as a man so she can take her father's place and fight the Huns. It's good news in many ways — Mulanis definitely one of the more feminist Disney tales (even though it's not perfect) and has some of the best songs in any Disney musical. Of course, it's also not very surprising news — Disney has plenty of live-action versions of our favorite animated films on the way, and Mulan is just another one to add to the mix.

Disney first tested the waters with the live-action 101 Dalmatians in 1996, but didn't seriously jump back into the game until Alice In Wonderland in 2010. It wasn't a true adaptation — the film acted more like a live-action sequel — but it did spark a revival of the animation to live-action variety. Since then, we've had Maleficent starring Angelina Jolie and Elle Fanning in 2013 and the more recent Cinderella adaptation starring Lily James and Cate Blanchett... and the studio is only getting started. Here's what new Disney film adaptations are in some stage of development.
