Ashley Tisdale's Outfit Cost HOW Much?

by Catie Keck

You know that girl in high school who paid inordinate amounts of money for things that could have been had for like, a quarter of the price? According to E! Online, High School Musical star Ashley Tisdale wore a $40,000 t-shirt outfit, and this is precisely why celebrities can’t have nice things. It’s not so much that each individual piece was horrifically overpriced; the accessories tipped the scales pretty heavily. But the sum of its parts make for an unnervingly expensive outfit that at its most basic is essentially just some denim cutoffs paired with a basic white t-shirt.

“Tisdale stepped out in a pair of One Teaspoon distressed denim shorts for $110 and paired it with a 'basic' white Vince t-shirt for $95,” reports E! Online. “The petite blond pulled the look together with a $138 Rails plaid button-down that she knotted around her waist.” $350 isn’t that bad, you may be thinking. But with the outfit she apparently paired a $2,195 pair of Saint Laurent gladiator sandals, a $3,100 Celine tote, a $34,350 rolex, and various accessories that also cost a lot of money.

Staples? Sure. Staples to excess for what has the potential to be the world’s most affordable outfit? Totally. Here’s how you can get her look for like, pennies by comparison.

The White T-shirt

J. Crew coming to you live with a linen boyfriend t-shirt in practically the exact same cut (sleeves and all) for $39.50 ($55 cheaper than Tisdale's).

Denim Shorts

Boom. Levi's 501 cutoffs (on sale for $40!), which I assure you will literally never go out of style.

Plaid Button-up

Here, have a $29 plaid UO shirt that you'll actually wear.

Gladiator Sandals

Personally not fan of this trend but if you absolutely must, try these gladiator sandals from Free People for $148 (that's $2,047 in savings).

Hat

Trust me when I say you'll get far more use out of a black fedora than a green one. Try this one from Urban Outfitters for $39.
