Ryan Reynolds Survives A Hit-And-Run

by Kadeen Griffiths

If you're like me, then hearing the words "hit by a car" makes you automatically assume the worst. When Ryan Reynolds was hit by a car in Vancouver on Friday, while he was minding his own business in a hotel parking lot, that should have been a cause for alarm for fans of the Deadpool star and husband of Blake Lively. As it turns out, we need not have worried about him. According to US Weekly, Reynolds emerged from the incident unharmed. I repeat, Reynolds was hit by a car and was unharmed by the incident. We should have been casting him in every superhero movie straight up to this point, because he is clearly one in real life. Am I the only one imagining him stopping the car with his bare hands á la Edward Cullen from Twilight?

I guess we'll never truly know what happened. The statement released by his publicist to AP was short, sweet, and to the point. "While walking, Ryan was struck by a paparazzi driving a car through an underground parking garage," said Leslie Sloane. "The man fled the scene. Ryan is okay." The police also confirmed that Reynolds is unharmed. And that's it. That's all we know. Reynolds was hit by a car in a hit-and-run incident while on location filming Deadpool, emerged completely unharmed, and that's all we know. A boring story not worth leaking details of or a superhero conspiracy? Hmm.

Of course, I could just be reading too much into the incident. After all, the important part of the story is that Reynolds is all right. Considering how easily that could have ended up not being the outcome of such a terrifying scenario, we need to count our blessings here. While the police investigate exactly who was the paparazzi behind the car that struck the Deadpool star, it's probably better that give them privacy during this time and just remain satisfied with the knowledge that Reynolds wasn't harmed. In the meantime, I suppose I'll keep my superhero conspiracy theories to myself... for now.
