Are Kids In Ian Somerhalder & Nikki Reed's Future?

Now that Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed are officially married, it's inevitable that the happy pair will be asked about babies. They may have just tied the knot a matter of hours ago, but nothing stops the paparazzi from being on "baby bump watch." But that begs the question, do Ian Somerhalder and Nikki Reed even want kids? Fortunately for fans of the couple, they do plan to have what will undoubtedly be some of the most genetically-blessed children on earth. However, don't expect them to get pregnant any time soon.

In the past, sources have told Hollywood Life that while Somerhalder and Reed do want to have kids, they're taking things a little slower. “They want to be in a place where they wouldn’t be filming a lot,” the insider told Hollywood Life. “So it’s been talked about, but something that would happen when The Vampire Diaries is officially over.”

Plus, at just 26 years old, Reed still has plenty of time before she needs to think about popping out a baby. She plans to enjoy her marriage before even entertaining the thought. "Maybe I'm wrong, but I feel like it's a mistake for people to get married and then just [have kids right away]," she once told People magazine. "I feel like it is the pressure of the family making them do it. [I want] to travel and be able to fly on an airplane without a baby and just have freedom."

So, while the married pair probably doesn't have any baby plans for the near future, they are proud parents of several animal children that they love and adore.

And hey, taking care of their pets is good practice for when the real kids come.
