Where Will Nikki Reed & Ian Somerhalder Honeymoon?

A lot can happen in nine months, just ask the mother of any newborn. Or you could ask Nikki Reed and Ian Somerhalder, whose whirlwind romance has taken the world by storm. Reed and Somerhalder were married on Sunday in a beautiful, simple ceremony in Santa Monica. After only nine months of dating, the couple tied the knot. This untraditional pair sure is keeping us on our toes, which leads me to the big questions about the newlyweds: where will Reed and Somerhalder honeymoon?

Let’s take a look at the facts. This couple isn’t afraid to take leaps of faith and go the unexpected route. Reed and Somerhalder clearly know what they want and aren’t afraid to go after it. They are also adventurous, as getting married after only nine months of dating isn’t for the faint hearted. Finally, this lovely couple also cares deeply about animals. In lieu of wedding gifts, Reed and Somerhalder requested that their guests donate to their favorite animal rescue charity.

What do these things mean for their honeymoon? For a couple who so boldly eschews tradition and enjoys spontaneity, I would imagine they would embark upon an exotic honeymoon full of adventure and wildlife. Consider the following potential locations for Reed and Somerhalder's honeymoon destinations.

Madagascar is an island country in the Indian Ocean, and it is also home to a wide array of unique animals. 90 percent of Madagascar's wildlife cannot be found any other place on earth. Madagascar is also home to some beautiful beaches, so this would be the perfect honeymoon spot for a couple looking for some relaxation and romance alongside some beautiful wildlife.

The Maldives

The Maldives is the perfect location for an intimate, secluded, and gorgeous honeymoon. The Maldives offers opportunity for adventure and romance. Reed and Somerhalder might dive the beautiful reefs of the Maldives one day and spend the next on an uninhabited island, basking in the glow of their post-wedding bliss. The Maldives is the perfect sport for a couple who, after so much time in the spotlight, desire a private, intimate setting to celebrate their new marriage.

From relaxing in your private villa that sits over the beautiful, turquoise waters of Bora Bora to snorkeling and paddle surfing, this spot is a luxurious and relaxing location for an aquatic vacation that cannot be beat. Snorkeling and scuba diving abound in the lagoon of Bora Bora and the many species of sharks and rays make possible diving expeditions in which travelers get to swim with manta rays and feed sharks.

The Ngorongoro Crater Lodge features spacious tents with AC, delicious cuisine, and even provides its guest with private butlers and soaking tubs. Tanzania is a unique destination for the couple who appreciates luxury, but also yearns to traverse the Serengeti and interact with the incredible wildlife of the region.

Elephant Hills Rainforest Camp, Khao Sok, Thailand

The Elephant Hills Rainforest Camp would be the perfect spot for the adventurous, spontaneous Reed and Somerhalder. Situated in the 160 million year old rainforest, the Elephant Hills Rainforest Camp in Khao Sok, Thailand, is home to elephants, hornbills, the world's largest flower, and Thailand's first floating hotel. The Elephant Hills tented camp features luxury tents which are secured to pontoons, enabling guests to roll out of bed and dive into the water.

Though Nikki and Ian might not be your traditional couple, perhaps they are looking for a relaxing, romantic getaway after their whirlwind nuptials. The Amalfi Coast in Italy is the perfect spot to escape to for a picturesque honeymoon. This idyllic stretch of Mediterranean coastline, with its cozy towns perched on rugged cliffs above the turquoise waters, is the perfect spot for newlyweds.

Romania: Touring Transylvania

There is no better spot for a unique honeymoon for our two most favorite fictional vampires than Transylvania. No, seriously, Romania is home to the stunning Carpathian Mountains, providing travelers with beautiful and mysterious terrain for hiking and exploring. Reed and Somerhalder would also obviously have to pay a visit to Sighișoara, the birthplace of Prince Vlad aka Dracula, and tour the Bran Castle where he is rumored to have reigned. With its excellent hiking and mountain biking opportunities, as well as its mysterious culture, Transylvania is the perfect place for a pair of newlywed vampires.
