6 'S.H.I.E.L.D.' Spoilers To Prepare You For Chaos
It’s kind of hard to believe that we are headed into the end of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 2 already. The show has been firing on all cylinders since it returned from its winter hiatus and last week they finally gave us what we (OK, I) had been asking for. After weeks of a Ward-drought not only is he back in the game, but he is reuniting with the old team. I’m sure they aren't all going to be holding hands and braiding each other's hair anytime soon, but seeing the original six characters work together just feels right. It’s a reminiscent of how well they worked in Season 1, and a reminder of just how much the betrayal and team splintering hurt. Having Coulson be on the run while Skye is off in Inhuman-land has been necessary for the plot development, but enough is enough. This show works best when its leads are working together and I’m thrilled that they are finally getting everyone back in one space.
The great team reunion isn’t the only big news coming for the next few episodes. We’ve got some crazy stuff coming our way with Avengers: Age of Ultron about to hit theaters and the season finale almost upon us. Here are the best, most action-packed Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 2 spoilers available. Everyone buckle up because Executive Producer Jeff Bell has been spilling some secrets and it sounds like thinks are going to get pretty nuts before the end.
Core Six Reunion
Yes, I’m super on board with Ward being back on the bus, I don’t care if he is trustworthy or not. (#sorrynotsorry). It looks like this team-up isn't a fluke and by the Season 2 finale all of our major players will be back working together. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Bell said the S.H.I.E.L.D. gang would get back together, one way or another.
We’re trying to bring everything together for the finale, and this [Ward’s motivations] is a big part of that
Ward’s Gone Legit
Speaking of Ward (and I usually am) it looks like his earnest eyes are not another heartbreak waiting to happen. In that same interview with Entertainment Weekly, Bell had this to say about Ward’s state of mind.
Because clearly…look, he wants to be forgiven and loved. That’s all he wants. He’s like, 'I’m sorry, I miss it, I miss you guys…come on, I’m a good guy!'
Just Call Him Boomerang Cal
Because he always circles back! And thank goodness for that, because his manic energy brings a level of camp and delight to the show that’s been missing since Garrett went crazy. When EW asked if Cal was off the show, Bell responded perfectly.
Oh lord, no. You can’t put him on every poster! [laughs] We’ve got some story left for him.
Inhuman Haven Is Discovered
We should have known that peaceful bit of afterlife was too good to last! According to The Hollywood Reporter, here is what Bell had to say when asked about what the discovery of the Inhumans' secret society by S.H.I.E.L.D. and HYDRA means for the show.
Suddenly, what was once a peaceful little group has been found out. So that is going to have a huge impact as we move toward the finale of the season.
Raina Goes Up Against Jiaying
Raina having any sort of power is a little terrifying, so having her get a super rare ability to being able to see the future was bound to cause trouble. Surprisingly, the trouble isn’t with S.H.I.E.L.D., it’s with Jiaying. In his interview with THR, Bell spoke about if Raina’s ability is an opportunity or a threat.
It's a little of both for Jiaying, who has always led this group autonomously but then has someone say, 'I don't know if you should do it that way.' That power would be very seductive for Raina. One of the challenges is, do people believe what she says because in general she's not been someone you wanted to trust.
The Avengers' Impact Is Less Mighty
It would have been near impossible to top the insane tie-in of The Winter Soldier and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. last year, so it’s kind of a relief that they aren’t trying. When talking to THR, Bell made it clear that Age of Ultron won’t revolutionize Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. I think this is for the best, it’s fun to have the franchises intersect occasionally, but I’d hate for the show to be plot-dependant on any of the movies. It looks like we are getting the best of all worlds!
