Is "Pretty Girls" Britney Spears' Best Video Ever?

by Rachel Semigran

Britney Spears released the video for "Pretty Girls," her like-totally-hot-for-summer hit with Iggy Azalea, and the result is a dizzying array of neon throwbacks and alien invasions. The video starts with Iggy Azalea as an martian who lands in Britney Spears' pool, in a scene which I desperately hope is an homage to the cult classic Earth Girls Are Easy. From there on out, Brit transforms Iggy into her new BFF, and they go about Los Angeles driving carelessly in convertibles and using magical powers to turn water pink and fix cell phones. It doesn't make a ton of sense, but it's fun nevertheless. The number one take away from the "Pretty Girls" video is that I really, really want to be friends with Britney Spears. She seems like a blast.

The video is also a return to classic Britney, with nothing but bare midriffs and perfectly choreographed bubblegum moves. It's the Britney we all know and love; the leopard print blankie the pop world didn't know it needed until it arrived. "Pretty Girls" isn't the first time Brit got all intergalactic on us, either. Who could forget the extraterrestrial love story that was "Oops!...I Did it Again?" Bless Britney Spears, for she is the true queen of the pop galaxy.

Since "Pretty Girls" helps usher in yet another era of Britney, lets see how it ranks amongst her classic videos.

11 — "If U Seek Amy"

Britney circa 2009, proving to everyone she was always in on the jokes. Though this Brit feels so far away from the down-to-earth gal we all love today.

10 — "Gimme More"

It's Britney, b*tch.

9 — "Sometimes"

Be still my tween heart! Crop top tank tops, frosted tips, and halo lighting... perfection.

8 — "Work B**ch"

All things lead to Vegas.

7 — "Pretty Girls"

No offense, Iggy Igs, but I'm all about Brit in this.

6 — "Lucky"

Britney, we need more narrative videos from you, please.

5 — "Toxic"

Raise of hands: who does that boob dance move every time this song plays? Everyone? I thought so.

4 — "I'm a Slave 4 U"

The video you rushed home to watch on TRL before your parents got home.

3 — "(You Drive Me) Crazy"

This is the Britney we all wanted to be.

2 — "Oops!..I Did it Again"

The red catsuit heard 'round the world.

1 — "... Baby One More Time"

The first and the best. You won't find a music video more iconic in Britney's discography than this one.
