As men get older the dreaded erectile dysfunctional possibility becomes a real concern. Suddenly their favorite part of their body that never failed them (except for all those times they were too drunk to get it up), is at odds with the whole aging process and because of it things just quit working at 100 percent. There is, of course, medicine that can help, the most famous of which is Viagra, but according to science there’s something else that can help ED, too; and it’s something many men consume every day. A new study out of The University of Texas Heath Science Center at Houston found that everyone’s favorite morning beverage may actually be helpful in, to quote a guy friend of mine, "staying locked and loaded.” According to the research men who drink between two and three cups of coffee a day are 42 percent less likely to suffer from ED issues. It seems that while coffee gets us up and rearing to go, it also relaxes the necessary arteries and muscles needed to keep blood flowing so men can get an erection and keep it. I also imagine coffee might be a wee bit cheaper than Viagra.
But while the general thinking is that ED only affects older men, as in old men, it can strike younger guys, too. Studies have found that roughly five percent of men between 20 and 39 are affected by ED. However in the majority of those cases it’s often due to psychological interference, rather than physical problems ― and we all know antidepressants, something that almost 10 percent of Americans take, can definitely mess with how the sex organs behave. Overall, about 18 million men are affected by erectile dysfunction, and almost half of them are men over 75 years of age.
Takeaway? That third cup of coffee may make that favorite man in your life shake and quake like a drug addict needing a fix thanks to that caffeine overload, but it just might be worth it. If coffee, or any beverage with caffeine, can be the miracle drug that will prevent the awkwardness that comes with ED, then obviously he should just drink on up. His penis will thank him, you will with thank him, and Starbucks will most definitely thank him.
