Lifetime's 'A Deadly Adoption' Is A Must-Stream

by Mallory Carra

On Saturday night, Lifetime will parody its own melodramatic TV movies, with help from comedic geniuses Will Ferrell and Kristen Wiig, in A Deadly Adoption (perfect title, right?). The movie started out as a super-secret project that was said to be canceled at one point, but now it's airing on Saturday night and it sounds spectacular. You'll need to know how to stream A Deadly Adoption, because it's seriously the Lifetime movie event of the year. Sure, we've had Whitney, Aaliyah: Princess Of R&B, and now the network is working on an unauthorized Full House movie, but A Deadly Adoption promises to be the best thing to happen this summer next to Scandal Season 4 finally hitting Netflix.

Luckily, if you miss the premiere on Saturday at 8 p.m., you will most likely be able to stream A Deadly Adoption on Lifetime's website, as most of the network's movies become available online shortly after they air. If you still have a cable or satellite provider, you should also check and see if they have it on on-demand after the movie airs. I'm also holding out that Lifetime will released this sure-to-be brilliant TV movie on DVD/BluRay so I can indulge in multiple viewings, just in case it becomes my new favorite movie. A Deadly Adoption is a self-parody of the many melodramatic telefilms Lifetime has put out over the years, according to several sources. But it wouldn't be a true parody without featuring two of the greatest comedic actors (and Saturday Night Live alums) around. Wiig and Ferrell play a wealthy couple who attempt to adopt a baby from a young pregnant woman (Jessica Lowndes) they invite into their home until, of course, the plan goes awry.

This seriously may be Lifetime's greatest achievement on TV ever. Here are a few more reasons why you absolutely must find any possible way to watch A Deadly Adoption.

Wiig & Ferrell Make An Amazing Team

These two SNL alums also studied at The Groundlings, the famous improv company in Los Angeles that launched the careers of Conan O'Brien, Lisa Kudrow, and the late Phil Hartman. They appeared in many hilarious SNL sketches together, including this TheraFlu parody. In 2013, Wiig and Ferrell presented a Golden Globe together with hilarious results, and they appeared in the IFC miniseries parody The Spoils of Babylon last year.

Lowendes Has Lifetime Experience

This isn't Lowndes first time on the network. Back in 2012, she starred in A Mother's Nightmare. The actress also cut her melodramatic chops as Adrianna on The CW's 90210.

The Movie Was Written By A Former SNL Writer

No, not Ferrell or Wiig. Andrew Steele wrote the script for A Deadly Adoption and he once wrote for SNL , which means there's gotta be some jokes in the movie somewhere (or maybe Wiig and Ferrell playing it 100 percent serious is the joke). He also worked with Wiig and Ferrell on The Spoils Of Babylon.

The Director Has Funny & Melodramatic Roots

A Deadly Adoption director Rebecca Lee Goldenberg's credits include Funny Or Die comedic shorts ( Mary Poppins Quits featuring Kristen Bell and A Gay Reporter's Olympic Trials ) and some TV movies (Escape From Polygamy, Love At The Christmas Table). She sounds like the perfect person to helm this Lifetime adventure.

It's About Time

I love Lifetime movies more than anymore, but I think we're overdue for a parody. And who better to create a Lifetime parody than the network itself?

The Trailer Has Every Awesome Lifetime Trope

The seduction of Ferrell. Unhinged pregnant lady. Psycho magazine-cover tearing. I cannot wait to see A Deadly Adoption.
