8 Best Xtina Songs to Perform At Karaoke
Getting clapped off the stage in the middle of a karaoke performance feels slightly more humiliating than being flat-out booed by the audience — or so I’ve been told. That’s not really fair, though, because karaoke is supposed to be less American Idol audition and more laid-back fun. S,o before I introduce you to my picks for the best Christina Aguilera songs for karaoke, relax and take it easy on yourself — no one’s asking you to audition to be Xtina’s backup singer. Even though listening to any number of Aguilera’s amazing live performances has the potential to completely shatter any ounce of faith you have in your vocal abilities, there’s no better setting than a good ole karaoke performance to embrace your voice, flaws and all.
Now, anyone who attempts to take on the challenge that is covering an Xtina song absolutely must perform a couple of vocal warm-ups in advance, in order to avoid disaster (or permanently damaged chords). Keep in mind, though, that karaoke isn’t necessarily about talent. It's more about evoking emotion and enjoying the moment. Plus, Xtina’s opinion on how others perform her songs is the only one that matters and, odds are, she won't be in the audience watching.
Now, without further ado, here’s a list of eight Xtina songs that definitely deserve their moment in the karaoke spotlight.
1. "Dirrty"
Here's a good one to perform at karaoke night if you're not that great of a singer. Terrible vocal skills can easily be masked by breaking out some of the naughty dances from the video.
2. "Genie in a Bottle"
Because belting out a karaoke version of "Genie in a Bottle" is the perfect way to unleash the inner sexy when you're feeling like you've been locked up tight for a century of lonely nights.
3. "Obvious"
Bonus points if you add a deep bow after successfully mimicking the way Xtina's vocals dramatically wind down at the end of this song.
4. "Hurt"
No karaoke session is complete without a tune that brings out the singer's inner Broadway actress. Perform this song, and expect a standing ovation. Oh. and don't feel bad for cracking a few notes — just blame it on being overcome with emotion.
5. "Walk Away"
Warning: This song shall be performed prior to having drinks because... tears. Besides, it's kind of lengthy, but the words deserve to be heard clearly, so that means no slurring allowed.
6. "Beautiful"
If you want audience participation, then the crowd will definitely lend their background vocals to the chorus.
7. "Lady Marmalade"
Brave is the person who takes on Xtina's ambitious verse, but the advantage is that the song features three other performers to have your back on stage.
8. "I Turn To You"
Something about heartfelt ballads make me want to sing into a brush, or on a stage in front of a room full of strangers.
Now, go forth with this list in hand and give an unsuspecting audience the best free Xtina concert they'll ever attend — or not.
