If 'The Bachelorette' Met 'UnREAL'

by Mallory Carra

I didn't expect to love Lifetime's summer series UnREAL, but suddenly there I was, marathoning the first three episodes and eagerly awaiting each new installment. If you haven't seen the show yet, it's a dark drama series that takes viewers behind Everlasting, a reality show boasting major similarities to The Bachelor and The Bachelorette. Naturally, watching the show led me to to wonder what it would be like if The Bachelorette ladies were on UnREAL . Sure, the set of women on the Lifetime series are very memorable (not to mention extremely dramatic) but I think real-life Bachelorettes like Kaitlyn Bristowe, Britt Nilsson, and Andi Dorfman could give 'em a run for their money.

So far this summer, UnREAL has featured manipulation, sex, adultery a suicide, and a fistfight, and the first season isn't even over yet. It's like The Bachelor, if we got to see the producers and participants in another dark and super serious dimension. But what if the ladies competing on-screen for the heart of British playboy Adam Cromwell (played by Freddie Stroma) were replaced by real Bachelorette women? Would it be just as dramatic? What would the rose ceremonies be like? How would they tackle the group dates?

Let's put our imagination caps on and find out.

Kaitlyn Bristowe

The current Bachelorette is playful and a free spirit. Just like she did with Chris Soules, I could see Kaitlyn presenting Adam with a billboard declaration of love. Adam wouldn't be sure how to feel about it, since he has all those confusing feelings for producer Rachel (played by Shiri Appleby).

Britt Nilsson

The not-quite Bachelorette is quite the hugger. She gave Chris Soules a very long and memorable hug during his season on The Bachelor and I could see her doing the same on Everlasting. After everything that's happened so far on the fictional show, Adam really could use some support.

Andi Dorfman

This former prosecutor isn't only famous for headlining a season of The Bachelorette, as she stole the hearts of audiences when she confronted Juan Pablo Galavis and left him in the dust during his season of The Bachelor. I could see Andi delivering the same blunt honesty to Adam — and she'd recognize that he's definitely into Rachel.

Desiree Hartsock

The now married designer would probably charm Adam right away, like she did viewers of The Bachelor, but the Everlasting bachelor better would have to watch out for Desiree's protective brother Nate, who got blunt with Sean Lowe (above).

Emily Maynard

The Southern belle (who is now married and expecting a child) would probably have a blast introducing Adam to some Southern traditions and hospitality. Just steer clear of NASCAR — her late former fiance was racecar driver Ricky Hendrick.

Amy Schumer

I know she's not technically The Bachelorette yet, but there was a Twitter offer, and I think it would be a hoot if she did accept. Schumer is having a breakout year and she totally killed it during her appearance on the show earlier this season. Besides, she already did a sketch on Inside Amy Schumer about what it might be like, illustrating that she'd be the best contestant on Everlasting, well, ever.

At the very least, a TV crossover needs to happen — the Bachelorette/UnREAL combo is too good to pass up.
