We Shouldn’t Forgive 'Bachelorette's Ian

by Lindsey Kupfer

There have been some pretty annoying people on Kaitlyn Bristowe’s season of The Bachelorette, but it’s safe to say that Ian Thomson takes the cake for being the absolute worst. Ian completely disrespected Kaitlyn when he took her aside and basically told her that he isn’t into her and she’s fake and just on the show to kiss guys. Now, Ian Thomson is coming back to Men Tell All, and supposedly going to beg Kaitlyn to forgive him for all the nasty things he said and did. But, I personally don’t think that she should have to forgive him after everything.

According to Reality Steve, Ian is trying to make amends for his less than charming moment on the show.

Ian actually got on his knees and had a sincere apology to all of the guys on stage for how he acted on the show. Said he was an idiot, he was embarrassed, and ask them to forgive him for what he did and the things he said … But yeah, physically got on his knees to apologize and apparently it was very sincere and almost brought him to tears to apologize.

Reality Steve also says he apologizes to Kaitlyn, but I won’t spoil whether or not she actually forgives him so you can see for yourself tonight. All I know is that if it were me, I would not forgive him. Let's not forget all the things he said to her when he was on the show:

1. “I Don’t Find Kaitlyn Interesting”

And, then he had the nerve to say, “I don’t think that’s something wrong with me, I think that’s something wrong with her.” If you don’t like her, then fine, whatever, but there are plenty of other guys who do find her interesting. So, for him to say that there’s something wrong with her is pretty messed up.

2. “She Is Not Half As Hot As My Ex-Girlfriend”

OK, great Ian, awesome observation. I wonder why that relationship ended? Could it be that because you’re super rude? Probably.

3. “I Meet Chicks And Have A Lot Of Sex In My Own Life”

Cool story, bro. Unfortunately, no one cares.

4. “I Feel Like You’re Here To Make Out With A Bunch Of Dudes On TV”

When you go on The Bachelorette or The Bachelor, you have to make out with a lot of people. You can’t just go on dates with all these people and not kiss. It’s a part of finding someone. Also, in one breath Ian was praising his sexual prowess and in another he was shaming Kaitlyn for kissing. Something doesn't add up here, and I think that's because of his sexism.

5. “I Really See You As A Surface Level Person”

You don’t have much time with people on the show, so, yeah, after three weeks you probably don’t know too much. It takes awhile to get to know someone. That's the point of the show.

6. “I’m Not Lame Like The Other Guys”

Yeah, we get it. You ran track at Princeton, which you think makes you far better than all the other guys. Except talking about it all the time is pretty much your worst quality.

7. “I’m Being Punished For Being An Intellectual”

Bye, Felicia!

8. “I Know What It Takes To Be The Bachelor”

And, then after he slut-shamed Kaitlyn and acted like a jerk, he used his exit interview to campaign to be The Bachelor . Um, how about no?

It seems to me like he’s only apologizing on the Men Tell All because he got slammed for his comments, and he realized that he has to apologize to try to change the real image we all saw on the show. Don’t forgive him Kaitlyn!
