Letter From The Editor

We’ve never been so back. May is, IMO, one of the best months of the year — and if you’re anything like me, you’ve already received more Partiful invites than you know what to do with. Yup, the world is coming back to life this month, and if you needed more proof, just check out this edition of “Your Month IRL,” Bustle’s monthly calendar of in-person events.

The month starts off strong with the premiere of The Devil Wears Prada 2 and only goes up from there. Whether you’re traveling down to Texas for a country music festival, or cheering on your fave WNBA team, you’re sure to have a blast. And we haven’t even gotten to the fun runs, food festivals, races, and more taking place across the country. Grab your planner — you’re going to want to pencil these dates in.

The Calendar

Some dates and details to keep in mind, regardless of which city you call home.

May 1

Gird your loins. The Devil Wears Prada 2 hits theaters on May 1, mere days before the Met Gala — and you’ll want to get your hands on tickets fast, before spoilers hit social media. By all means, try not to move at a glacial pace.

May 2

Grab your cowboy boots. On May 2, the iHeart Country Festival returns to Austin, Texas for a day full of your favorite twangy hits. Performers include Luke Bryan, Carly Pearce, and Shaboozey, so line dance on down and get your tickets here.

May 2

I’m not a betting man, but if I was, I’d wager on having a blast at the Kentucky Derby. Even if horse racing isn’t exactly your speed, the fashion alone is reason enough to make the journey to Louisville. I mean, where else in the U.S. can you get away with wearing a fascinator? Find tickets and plan your trip here.

May 8

The 30th season of the WNBA kicks off on May 8 with a triple-header. In just one day, the Connecticut Sun faces off against the New York Liberty, the Golden State Valkyries take on the Seattle Storm, and the Washington Mystics battle the league’s newest expansion team, the Toronto Tempo. Whoever you’re rooting for, you’re in for a treat.

May 16 - 17

Nothing says “summer” like a fresh strawberry. Get a head start on the season by heading to Ventura, California. for the annual Strawberry Festival. Indulge in your favorite strawberry sweets and sip on a berry beer while listening to live music and poking around at the local arts and crafts booths.

May 31

If you’ve got a wedding on the books, the Arizona Wedding & Bridal Expo is not to be missed. The events gather hundreds of experienced wedding professionals in one place, so you can sip on a mimosa while planning the nuptials of your dreams. Bridal (and menswear) fashion shows throughout the day are the icing on the wedding cake.
