Football fans, get ready for the biggest sports event of 2017: Super Bowl Sunday is coming up on Feb. 5, and the New England Patriots are playing the Atlanta Falcons. Any game that features the Patriots is sure to be a doozy. If you're a fan of the Pats, one of the best ways to get hype about the game is to indulge yourself in as many New England Patriots memes as possible. The Super Bowl officially begins at 6:30 p.m. ET on Sunday in Houston, Texas, and be sure to tune into Fox (that's the channel it's going to be on) so you don't miss a single play.
The Super Bowl is considered as the annual championship game of the National Football League (NFL), in which champions of the National Football Conference (NFC) — that's the Falcons — play champions of the American Football Conference (AFC); in this case, the Patriots are the latter. The Patriots aren't new to the Super Bowl field. In all of Super Bowl history, the Pats have won a total of four times, while the Falcons have never won a Super Bowl game ever.
Normally, I'm not one to get excited about sports. When I was younger, I would spend football season cracking football jokes instead of actually being interested in the sport ("Why did the football player go to the bank?" "To get his quarter back!"). And yet, when it comes to the Patriots, I can never turn my head the other way. I spent nearly eight years living in Boston as a kid and I still visit several times a year, so I think you can guess where my football loyalties lie.
Besides, any football game with Tom Brady will catch my attention. As the Patriots' unstoppable quarterback, Brady is one of the biggest names in football history. He's played in the Super Bowl six times, including the four times that the Pats won the championship. It's worth noting that he just might set a record on Sunday for the highest number of championship wins for a quarterback — if the Pats win, that is (fingers crossed).
