It's official: Wonder Woman is now the highest-grossing film domestically of the DCEU. More Americans turned out to see the first female-led superhero movie of the Marvel era than Batman v Superman, which is, obviously, a pretty big deal, so now begins the search for more movies for Wonder Woman fans to enjoy. There are a lot of people who enjoyed the film and are looking to see what other movies are like it, and while there aren't any movies that are quite like Wonder Woman, I'll do my best in suggesting films that will probably be enjoyed by those who truly loved the Gal Gadot-starrer.
Although Wonder Woman is the first female-led superhero film of the modern era, it's not actually the first ever. There have been several that came before it — 1984's Supergirl, 2004's Catwoman, 2005's Elektra — but Wonder Woman is the first to be hugely successful. Also, judging from the fact that i's Rotten Tomatoes score is 3.5 times greater than the combined score of the three previously mentioned films, I think it's safe to say it's the first genuinely good one, too. There are lots of reasons to like Wonder Woman, from its kickass female lead to its period setting to its star and direction, so whatever it was you enjoyed most about the film, you'll find more to love in the 17 films below.
1'Edge Of Tomorrow'
Tom Cruise is technically the lead here, but he is greatly overshadowed by the seriously kickass Emily Blunt.
2'Aliens'
This '80s classic is remembered for being one of the first blockbuster action films to feature a female lead.
3'Monster'
Somehow, this acclaimed 14-year-old movie is the only other feature directed by Patty Jenkins before Wonder Woman. Hopefully she starts making more movies now.
4'Lucy'
Scarlett Johansson might just be the best action star working today, male or female.
5'Terminator 2'
James Cameron followed up Aliens by featuring another strong woman at the center of the action in this mega-hit.
7'Keeping Up With The Jones'
For when you get a hankering to see Gal Gadot kicking more butt.
8'Star Wars: The Force Awakens'
I'm not sure why anyone was surprised when Wonder Woman made a boatload of money after this female-led adventure became the highest-grossing domestic film of all time last year.
9'Spy'
Melissa McCarthy makes a good argument for a female James Bond movie here.
10'Captain America: The First Avenger'
If you enjoyed the old-timey war setting of Wonder Woman, you'll like Cap's origin story, too (though it is a different war).
11'Kill Bill Vols. 1 & 2'
Practically the first thing everyone thinks of when they picture a female lead kicking butt.
12'Haywire'
Watching MMA fighter Gina Carano lead a film is doubly cool because you know she can kick people's butts in real life.
13'Mad Max: Fury Road'
Mad Max may have his name in the title, but this film is all about Charlize Theron's Furiosa.
14'Ghostbusters' (2016)
A special effects-filled action movie led by a team of hilarious women, it's a shame this movie didn't make more money.
16'Thor'
If you dug the god-fish out of water aspect of Wonder Woman, this Marvel tale is shockingly similar.
17'Atomic Blonde'
This movie isn't out yet, but if you want to see more action on the big screen this summer, this is your best bet.
Get watching!
