There's no better time to try out some hot new sex positions than during summertime — especially if you're lucky enough to have a romantic vacation planned. According to a recent study by online sex toy retailer Lovehoney, couples have more sex in July and August (aka the peak summer months) than any other time of year, and it's kind of a no-brainer why. Summer is a time for our normally over-saturated minds to relax a bit and enter "vacation mode," meaning it's the perfect time to de-stress by having some much-needed intimate time with your partner. And going on a vacation together is the perfect opportunity to take your sex life to the next level and try some new things in bed (especially if that bed happens to be located in a romantic, luxurious hotel room).

"Taking sex out of the dull and routine setting such as one's bedroom at home, creates a new scenario, which is a very positive stimulus for the brain," Dr. Svetlana Kogan, life coach and holistic mind-body doctor, tells Bustle. "In response, the body secretes more endorphins, adrenaline, and dopamine to this new adventurous setting."

Vacation sex can be incredibly hot, because it provides you and your partner with a totally different setting than you're used to. When you're on vacation, you can take as much time as you want to really explore each other's bodies and focus on pleasuring each other in new and exciting ways. Here are seven hot sex positions to try out next time your summer vacation plans take you and your partner to a swanky hotel (though you can try them anywhere you please, of course).

The butterfly position is the perfect way to break in the crisp, clean sheets of a king-sized hotel bed. Start by lying on the edge of the bed while your partner stands at the foot of the bed in front of you. Then, slowly move your legs up their chest until your ankles are resting on their shoulders. Have your partner help you lift your pelvis off the bed (while you arch your back), then just lie back and enjoy the ride.

From Behind (With Vibrator)

Doggy style sex is one of the most popular positions, and it's no surprise why. It's the perfect combination of intense and intimate — especially if you're willing to get creative and bring a vibrator into the mix. Vacation sex is all about taking your time (since you have plenty of it), so no need to rush into penetration. Instead of ramping things up right away, have your partner focus on touching and caressing you while you hold a travel-sized sex toy on your clit.

If you're a standing-sex newbie, it's best to go slowly and cautiously when trying this position. Stand with your feet hip-width apart, then slowly lean over as your partner enters you from behind (they can hold your hips to keep you steady). Lube is your best friend for this position, and you can also put your hands against a wall — or perhaps a steamed-up hotel room window? — to stabilize yourself.

Reverse Cowgirl

Vacation sex is all about switching things up, so if you're not normally into reversing your cowgirl, now's the time to try it out. It can be a bit tricky to get the hang of, so start out slow to figure out exactly what motion and pace feels best for you and your partner.

In A Chair

If your hotel room comes equipped with extra furniture like a couch or chair, why not use those to your advantage? Straddle your partner while sitting in a chair for a sultry spin on traditional on-top. It's an ideal position for kissing and eye contact during sex, plus doing it somewhere other than a bed will feel supremely naughty.

The Splitter

If your ideal vacay sex involves ultra-deep penetration, the splitter is *the* position for you. Lie on your back (propping yourself up on your elbows if necessary), while your partner straddles one of your legs and penetrates you in a kneeling position. Whichever leg isn't being straddled gets lifted onto your partner's shoulder, allowing your partner to go super deep.

As you near the end of your vacation, it's understandable to be exhausted and drained from all the hot sex you've been having. For an intimate (and a tad lazy) end to your hotel room stay, curl up in the spooning position and focus on taking things slow and caressing each other.

Ultimately, there's no right or wrong way to have a hot, sex-filled vacation (or staycation). The romantic, relaxed atmosphere of summer is the perfect time to have passionate, intimate sex, but how you and your partner do so is totally up to you two.
