You guys, I was absolutely bummed after watching this week's Dancing with the Stars elimination and seeing one of my favorites leave the ballroom competition. However, Erika Jayne's new unicorn mirrorball trophy totally proves that there's a silver lining to any situation. I don't think I'm alone in my feelings here, right, guys? I'm sure it was really a shock for many of us to watch Erika Jayne (aka Erika Girardi) not do as well as fans anticipated, given the fact that she performs for a living.
But after watching her be ousted from the dancing competition on Monday night, I was excited to learn that she didn't walk away with nothing to show for her time on the dance floor. Following her Week 5 departure from the reality series, Good Morning America host, Lara Spencer, surprised the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star on Tuesday, April 18 with the most amazing and unforgettable gift ever — a unicorn mirrorball trophy.
The present is certainly befitting for the 45-year-old singer, who danced in front of a unicorn during her debut performance on the DWTS stage. It appears that the entertainer was overjoyed after receiving ABC's personalized gesture, posting the sparkling trophy to her Instagram story as she attempted to make her way through JFK airport and back to Los Angeles with it still intact, according to E! News.
After stowing the prize away in her handbag as she packed for her trip, Erika later joked that the mirrorball was the "real winner," as she showcased her new gift for onlooking fans. She elaborated while proudly pointing at the trophy,
"And for the peanut gallery that's going to criticize my waltz in front of the Shake Shack, see this right there, that's the real winner right there, baby."
During her interview with GMA, Erika revealed that she enjoyed her time on the show and expressed the pride she felt competing alongside her Season 24 partner, Gleb Savchenko. She went on to explain their time on the show and said, "It was beautiful. It was emotional. We worked hard. I'm proud of us."
I personally think that Erika did a really great job on the show, and I'm glad to see her make a happy departure. However, I'd have to agree that her unicorn mirrorball trophy is the real MVP.
