Well, this news lights up my world like nobody else: Harry Styles will be on Saturday Night Live. On Tuesday, NBC revealed the One Direction member will be the musical guest on the April 15 episode of the long-running sketch comedy series. This episode, which will be hosted by Jimmy Fallon, will be Styles’ first solo performance. Happy Tax Day to every last one of us (yeah, I know Tax Day falls on April 18 this year, but it’s close enough).

Though the boy bander has yet to put out any solo material, he does have a solo commercial. A solo commercial that might mean solo material is on the horizon. Just this past weekend, a cryptic, Styles-centric ad surfaced on the internet. For the first 20 seconds, Styles lurks around in a shadowy fog. And then, we are treated to a closeup of his eyeballs. And then, the advert fades to black. And then, a date flashes across the screen: April 7. And then, the video ends.

Cue the tidal wave of speculation. Will Styles drop a single on April 7? Will he drop an album on April 7? Will he drop a fragrance on April 7? Will he drop another cryptic video on April 7? Or will he drop a line of fog machines on April 7?

Given that he's scheduled to perform as a solo artist on SNL two weeks from this Saturday, I believe there's a good chance the Dunkirk actor will give us new tuneage on April 7. I mean, he's gotta have something fresh to play on SNL, right?

Then again, the April 7 could be a red herring. Maybe he’ll debut his new jams on SNL. Or maybe he’ll sing two One Direction songs for old time's sake. Or maybe he’ll just stand on the 30 Rock stage and say, "The Hazy Styles fog machine is out now, get it wherever fog machines are sold."

Don’t look at me, I’m no oracle.
