Diddy (aka P. Diddy, Sean Combs, and Puff Daddy) has made yet another, albeit unsurprising at this point, change. Diddy has changed his name again and explained exactly why he made this interesting revision to his ever-fluctuating alias. The rapper said on Jimmy Kimmel Live! (writer: Molly McNearney) that he's since changed his moniker to "Love", and his reason for the change is actually, well, lovely.

On the late night show, host Jimmy Kimmel asked the entrepreneur to clear up some confusion about his new name, as Diddy... Love had previously asked to be called "Brother Love" in an Instagram video but later backtracked on the name change in a subsequent post. He explained on the show,

"I never went back to Diddy. And I've made an edit from 'Brother Love', since I'm already black, to just 'Love' ... the 'Brother' seemed redundant and it's working out great. Who doesn't love love?"

He's not wrong there.

When Kimmel asked how he should refer to him, Love replied, "Just Love." Yet, don't worry if you can't totally keep track of this change. The rapper also explained that it's fine to call him by his other monikers, like Diddy and Puff Daddy, as well. He said, "See, the thing is that you can call me the other names. This is just an evolution of my spirit and my vibration. I'm Diddy. During the days that it's really, really good, I'm Love, which is all of the time."

He also revealed that this name change clarification may not be completely in line with what his PR people are thinking. When Kimmel asked him about the "commotion" when it comes to PR, he said, "They're the ones who made me try to do a retraction [of the 'Brother Love' name change]." He then echoed the host's statement and said, "I've unretracted the retraction. And I've taken the 'Brother' off the 'Love' and I'm just Love." That may be a bit of a head-scratcher, but all you really need to know is that you can now officially call the entertainer "Love".

The commotion that the two brought up ties back to Love's previous announcement of his new moniker. He posted a video on Instagram on Nov. 4 (his birthday) that called for everyone to call him "Brother Love". He said that he would no longer like to be acknowledged by his other names and said, "I know it could come off as corny to some people. I decided to change my name again. I'm just not who I am before ... So, my new name is Love aka Brother Love."

Yet, he later backtracked on the statement in a subsequent Instagram video. He said that he was only "joking" and that he hadn't changed his name, after all. But, he also said that it was fine to still call him Love along with any of his other established monikers, which aligns with his explanation on Jimmy Kimmel Live!.

Obviously, this isn't the first time that Love, or Diddy, has famously changed his name. The rapper, born Sean Combs, has had as many as six different monikers attached to his name, according to Complex. Before this most recent change, he was also recognized by Puffy, a childhood nickname, Puff Daddy, P. Diddy, Diddy, Sean John, and even Swag, which was in honor of his "comeback" in the music industry. Complex notes that he set up a Twitter account in 2011 in honor of the name, but that new identity only lasted a week.

Only time will tell if "Love" will remain as one of the rapper's everlasting monikers. Seeing as though there's a deeper meaning behind the spiritual nickname, it seems like it has the chance to last.
