Wow, guys. What happened last night? I don't know about y'all, but I still feel anxious about the whole Envelopegate situation. While you and I may never know exactly what went down with the Best Picture envelope confusion, a.k.a. "envelopegate," Matt Damon thinks he does. While talking to Entertainment Tonight, Matt Damon blamed envelopegate on 2017 Oscars host Jimmy Kimmel, giving their feud another hilarious chapter.

In an interview at the Vanity Fair after party, Damon shared his lack of confusion with the results stating, "I was the one person who wasn't surprised that it all got screwed up. That's what they [get] for hiring Jimmy. You know, they got what they paid for." Ouch. Ice cold, Mr. Damon, ice cold. But knowing the duo's playful rivalry, it's all in good fun. During the awards ceremony, Kimmel was getting hilarious jabs in at the Oscar contender the entire night. Their ongoing joke-feud was a consistent and hilarious bit throughout the Academy Award ceremony, but has been a part of Kimmel's comedy for quite some time.

The whole "feud" started when Kimmel's show was just starting out and wasn't quite successful yet. At the end of each episode, the host would finish with, "Apologies to Matt Damon, we ran out of time.” As Kimmel explained to NPR in January 2013, "Matt Damon was just the first name that popped into my head. I was trying to think of an A-list star, and somebody we absolutely would not bump if he was on the show."

Damon took the joke and ran with it, releasing a video with Sarah Silverman, Kimmel's then-girlfriend, titled "I'm F*cking Matt Damon." Ever since, it's been an ongoing shtick.

Before and during the Oscars, Kimmel gave the Manchester By The Sea producer a hard time. He started it out by posting a photo of himself on Instagram drawing goblin ears and a mustache on Damon's seating card, along with the caption: "Best Picture Vominee Matt Damon." (That's not a typo; Kimmel really wrote "vominee.")

And the hits kept coming. Kimmel shared yet another Instagram post before the event with the caption, "Dead man walking the red carpet." Part of the Oscar host's warm-up was playfully trashing Damon.

Kimmel got right down to business joking with the Oscar nominee in his monologue. While talking about how all Americans should try to extend across the aisle, Kimmel also spoke to his need "to bury the hatchet with someone I’ve had issues with: Matt Damon." He went on to joke, “I’ve known Matt for a long time now. I’ve known Matt so long, when I first met Matt, I was the fat one, OK? It’s true. And we’ve had problems. He’s a selfish person. Those of you who have worked with him know this.”

He then "praised" the actor for choosing to not take the lead role in his film, Manchester By the Sea stating, "he handed an Oscar-caliber role over to his friend and made a Chinese ponytail movie instead." Ouch.

Damon wasn't even safe when presenting. When the actor attempted to present the award for Best Original Screenplay, Kimmel was below in the pit. directing the orchestra to cut Damon off. It's all part of the host perks, it seems.

Kimmel's final cute jab was before the now-infamous envelopegate occured, when he announced that the Best Picture award was next, "My favorite part of the night is here: a chance to see Matt Damon lose an Academy Award.”

From Damon's remarks to ET, it seems like the feud is alive and kicking — yet still hilarious. We can only hope that he strikes back in a playful way that tops Jimmy Kimmel's hysterical Oscar jabs. Stay tuned, guys.
