'Ocean 8's Anne Hathaway Looks Like Amal Clooney In The New Poster & You Won't Be Able To Unsee It — PHOTO

Despite the fact that her husband is a major member of the beloved movie franchise, Amal Clooney is not in Ocean 8. If you're automatically nodding, since you knew that, there's a reason to make that fact very clear. As E! News and a few astute fans jokingly pointed out on Twitter, Anne Hathaway looks just like Amal Clooney in the new poster for the film, which dropped on Thursday, Dec. 14. Seriously, you're going to do a double-take when you see how much these two women look alike.

Considering the women-focused take on the Ocean's Eleven franchise features a lineup of Hollywood's most badass women — ranging from Rihanna to Sandra Bullock to Mindy Kaling to Awkwafina, and that's just the half of them — it would make sense that the human rights lawyer could find herself among them. And you know that fans would be so excited to see her on the big screen, especially since she's a force to be reckoned with IRL.

In reality, Hathaway is third in the poster line-up, showing how much she resembles Clooney with a serious pair of shades (which, admittedly, likely adds to the resemblance, since it covers her eyes). The hair also looks incredibly similar. It's the same shoulder-length 'do, with a bit of an effortless wave to it.

Here are some of the best reactions to the doppelgängers.

This Person Raised A Valid Point

Seriously, it's like they may be morphing into one.

And This One Had Jokes

Basically, it's almost true. Hathaway's placement is right in the middle.

But Others Had Better Ideas

Sure, this tweet is from literal months ago, but how genius of an idea is that? Hathaway in a Clooney biopic would be too good.

Another Fan Is Here For That Idea

Those movie tickets would almost definitely sell out in a heartbeat.

And Yes, The Comments Have Existed For A While

The comparison may not be new, but the poster just further pushes the idea forward.

This Person Pointed It Out (In A Semi-Insulting Way)

No need to disparage Hathaway's brains in the process. Both ladies can be smart — it's not a competition.

Even Hathaway Approves Of The Comparison

Apparently she was flattered. When you look at the side-by-side, you can really see how much these two are practically long-lost twins.

Others Threw Out Conspiracy Theories

OK, this is a bit of a stretch. But this person gets an A for effort.

Nope, Not The Only One

This person thought they were alone in their theory, but no, not at all. Plenty of people pointed out how much the two look alike.

At the end of the day, Hathaway and Clooney are two talented women, but also individuals. So, sure, it's fun to compare them and hope the Princess Diaries alum one day portrays Clooney in a film, but they each deserve to let their light shine.

And speaking of letting people shine, the same Ocean's 8 poster did spark some criticism on Twitter. Some have pointed out that it appears the cast's the women of color are placed toward the back of the lineup in smaller slots. Although it's likely unintentional, it's hard to argue with that observation.

Despite the criticism, the general verdict is that most people couldn't be more excited for the upcoming movie. You'll just have to wait until next summer — June 8, 2018, to be exact — to see this badass team of women in action.

No, you won't see Clooney in the bunch, but now you can go into the theater and find out whether Hathaway actually looks like her, or it's simply the photograph on the poster playing tricks with your mind.
