The Animated 'Spider-Man' Film Has Found A Miles Morales
Marvel fans, get ready to lose your minds. The animated Spider-Man film cast Miles Morales. And, no, it's not Donald Glover. But, don't worry. Marvel has cast another awesome actor to take on the challenge. The Get Down's Shameik Moore, better known to fans of the show as Shaolin Fantastic, has just signed on to voice the reincarnated character. And have to say that Moore playing Spider-Man's Miles Morales makes so much sense.
I mean, don't get me wrong. Donald Glover voicing the half-black, half-Latino Spider-Man would've been awesome, too. He's made it crystal clear how much admiration he has for the Marvel Comics superhero. But he also has ample opportunities filling up his schedule these days, and we all know that the Atlanta actor will have a surprise role in the upcoming Spider-Man: Homecoming film. He won't miss this animated project one bit. So, why not introduce another black actor to the mainstream? And why not have it be a young and talented actor with a superhero edge? That's what makes Moore so perfect for this.
From his work on Dope as the nerdy, '90s loving, punk band-performing Malcolm to his most recent stint as The Get Down's drug dealing, DJing, martial arts enthusiast Shaolin Fantastic, Moore has already proven that he has what it takes to captivate the world of comic fans. In the midst of their very different plots, Malcolm and Shaolin Fantastic are both trying to find a spot in this big world where they belong.
And isn't that the story of Spider-Man's Miles Morales? Moore has already mastered this role two times before, and I'm more than confident that he'll be able to do this again.
His youthful charm is enough to make me want to run to the theater. The fact that he's an awesome actor is just the icing on top. Marvel knew what they were doing when they put this young superstar in the running, and I can't wait to see him bring Miles Morales to life.
